Jerusalem, Ashkelon and Gaza (CNN)Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians escalated further on Tuesday as Palestinian militants in Gaza fired hundreds of rockets into Israel, which in turn ramped up airstrikes on the coastal enclave, as unrest spread to cities and towns beyond Jerusalem.
As both sides traded airstrikes on Tuesday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation from Tel Aviv, saying, "We are in the midst of a significant operation."
Israeli bombing raids across Gaza have killed at least 32 people, including 10 children, according to Palestinian health officials, who also said 203 people have been injured. The Israeli military said it had killed more than 15 militants.

Palestinian militants say they fired 130 missiles at the Israeli city of Tel Aviv after an Israeli air strike felled a tower block in the Gaza Strip.

The 13-storey building was attacked an hour and a half after residents and local people were warned to evacuate, Reuters news agency reports.

Israel's military says it is targeting militants in Gaza in response to earlier rocket attacks.

At least 31 people have died in some of the worst violence in years.

The international community has urged both sides to end the escalation, which follows days of unrest in Jerusalem.

Militants had already fired hundreds of rockets towards Jerusalem and other areas.

Three people have been killed in Israeli areas while at least 28 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air strikes.

All the action as Israel comes in through the back door to become the 'new' Empire of the Middle-East (after Germany kicked them out of Europe for telling lies and turning them into Nazis like Frankenstein's curse).

The old Empire (Military) of Islam - for so long being aimed at Christian Europe, is at sixes and sevens with the Israelis (Jews) coming in from behind fresh from a Genocide. The best the Moslems can do is throw stones and act like Palestinians on the back foot.

After Islam gets its 'Messiah' (to counter-balance its Prophet Mohommed, like the Jews got their Prophet Hitler to counter-balance their Jew Messiah Jesus) from the ashes of a genocided and burnt down ruination of France (left alone at the front by the likes of Britain that 'exited' the scene and responsibility, to face the Moslem onslaught to protect Europe).

I'm not talking about 5000 years of war, I'm talking about the latest surge in violence. And by the way, I have no sympathy whatsoever with Hamas indiscriminately shooting rockets at Israeli civilians.

Who I do have sympathy for though are those Palestinians - born in Israel, yet not afforded the rights and privileges a nation should afford anyone born within their borders - being told that they should hand over the only home they have, that they have been living their entire lives in - to someone whose ancestors might have lived there nearly a century ago.

Hamas are opportunists and vultures. They cynically feed of despair and misery. What is happening in East Jerusalem - which no one, repeat, no one, can deny is blatantly racist and unfair - is what creates despair and misery.

Deal with the despair and misery if you really want lasting peace - not the vultures who feed off it.

Yes. Many non-aboriginal people have been 'born' in Australia but have no right to reserve them being recognised as 'natives' too.

There is no doubt that there is great unfairness and injustice in Israel.
