Palestinian terror groups in the Gaza Strip fired a massive barrage of rockets at the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon at dawn on Tuesday, wounding six people and threatening to turn the city “into hell.”

The assault came after a night of almost constant rocket fire on Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip and as the Israel Defense Forces conducted strikes on some 130 targets in the coastal enclave, as part of what it has called “Operation Guardian of the Walls,” the military said. It followed a day that saw a major outbreak of violence from Gaza, including rare rocket fire on Jerusalem.

According to Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry, at least 24 people in the Strip were killed on Monday night and Tuesday morning, including nine minors. Another 106 Palestinians were injured to varying degrees, the ministry said. The IDF said at least 15 of those killed were members of the Hamas terror group who were launching rockets at Israel. IDF Spokesperson Hidai Zilberman said a number of those killed in Gaza were struck by errant rockets fired from the Strip, not by Israeli airstrikes, including a number of the children.

Jerusalem (CNN)Tensions in Jerusalem reached their highest point in years as rocket sirens blared across the city and other areas closer to Gaza's border on Monday evening, capping another day of violence in the holy city during which hundreds of Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli police.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said militant groups in Gaza Strip launched six rockets at Jerusalem shortly after 6:00pm local time (11 a.m. ET). One of the rockets caused some damage at a home on the western outskirts of Jerusalem, a second was intercepted by the Iron Dome aerial defense system and four landed in open terrain, IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus said.

As night fell, the IDF responded with a series of airstrikes in Gaza.

At the same time the Iranians are stirring up the US Navy and Coast Guard escorting ships in the Persian Gulf... hmmmm... maybe they think the virus and the China Syndrome is more than enough for the US to handle right now... especially Iran, given that the flanking blocking position in Afghanistan is being wound down.....

Countries worldwide have appealed for calm after days of unrest spiralled into retaliatory attacks by Israel and Palestinians.

The US, the European Union and the UK have urged Israel and the Palestinians to lower tensions as soon as possible.

The violence escalated on Monday night after Palestinian militants fired rockets towards Jerusalem.

In response, the Israeli military launched air strikes against militant targets in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian health officials in Gaza said 22 people, including nine children, had died in the strikes. Israel's military said at least 15 members of the Hamas group that rules Gaza were among those killed.

Hamas had threatened to strike after hundreds of Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli police at a holy site in Jerusalem on Monday.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas had "crossed a red line" and that Israel would respond "with great force".

The past few days have seen the worst violence in Jerusalem for years, with confrontations between Israeli police and Palestinian protesters at a holy compound in Jerusalem's Old City.

The clashes came amid mounting Palestinian anger over the threatened eviction of families from their homes in East Jerusalem by Jewish settlers, fuelled by a month of altercations between protesters and police in the predominantly Arab part of the city.

Early on Tuesday, the Palestinian Red Crescent, a humanitarian group, said more than 700 Palestinians had been injured in clashes with Israeli security forces in Jerusalem and across the West Bank.

I really do not care about how it turns out. Either side can turn the region into a glass crater or a parking lot, for all I care. I had this idea that the Europeans were using Israel as a distraction so that Europe does not get overwhelmed with Muslim migrants refugees coming to overwhelm and take over become good citizens of Europe. But that would seem silly considering that Middle Eastern and North African migrants just go around Israel and pay little attention respect to the Yamaka hat wearin' Israelis.

I care about Israel -
if I was living there I'd be on their side especially
against all those nut case Muslims.

I wanted to visit Israel many times but whenever
I was free to go a war always started - like now.
It's not safe to visit there.
