I disagree with Brian on many points and have done so for years both here and on Debate and Relate. However he usually injects a note of sanity into debates that are becoming increasingly outrageous and bizarre.

He can come across as smug and superior, but many of the posters here come across as stupid, annoying and just plain ignorant sometimes.

As far as the defence forum goes, I always thought that debate there should be a cut above the rest of the place and was tempted to suggest at one point that membership be restricted to ex-ADF personnel only, as the discussion was often being sidetracked by ignorant or deliberately provocative posts from clueless individuals with no idea of how the ADF or any other military force operates. Brian pointed out this would not be a good idea and everyone should be able to have a say. Individual posts have been removed for whatever reason but AFIK no one has actually been banned.

So while I may disagree with Brian and be annoyed by some of his remarks, I don't see much wrong with his moderation, nor do I believe he is a CCP operative - there are others here with much better claims to being CCP operatives than Brian... Cool

I think you're onto it. Restrict membership to the Defence forum to ex-ADF personnel only.

And restrict Brian from the Islam forum. His hypocrisy in his standards make him incapable of reasonable contributions. Repeating of probably thousands of the same posts has made parts of this forum something more like that of teenage girls having an extended social media spat... Hard to imagine he was once a soldier...
