Having had a couple of terms myself it can be very unrewarding as there are so many different opinions on how the place should be run.
BO did what she said she would do and she was re-elected.
I think the real issue is that there is a diminishing population of eligible voters due to people dropping from the forum and bans. Also there was in the last 2 elections, if I recall correctly, very few people put up their hands to run. So BO stayed on for the benefit of the forum. Also she was reelected to keep things as they were. That she has.
I think the mounting criticism of BO is unfounded and the criticism is more about that an EL was elected that some people didn't agree with her policies, but they were what she was elected on. All we can expect from an elected EL is to implement the manifesto they were elected on. Surely.
The root of the problem is the population of eligible voters now is small and not diversified. The that is, the election process will only elect more of the same due to the DNA of the pool of voters.
I have not seen the candidates manifesto yet, but I am for opening up the forum more, giving those banned a chance to rejoin and if they carry on destroying the forum, the new EL does what they will with them including reinstituting bans.
However, the current PA group think is this bad because it will just return to a poo fight. I think those who are banned should at least recognize some distrust there motives for rejoining, particularly those that are known to seek its destruction. So there is a feeling that to open it up will lead to PA degrading further with nothing but shitfights designed to bring the forum down. Then we lose the small posters we have, the forum ends up a desert when the shitfighters have achieved their objective.
So how do we proceed. I see a cacth-22 here.
It will be interesting who is EL and what they will do.
I don't think letting people back and making the forum work are mutually exclusive provided the new EL is prepared to sort out those that behave in a forum destructive manner are dealt with swiftly. I am not for permanent bans. But like here the bans can start small and grow in duration as they do not learn .
I (and I am sure others will be of the same view) am not going back there if I am to be treated any differently from every other Member. I will never accept second class Membership.....ever.
Point is....the place is dead, and it cannot be made any 'deader' by anyone returning there and saying virtually whatever they want to say....as was the case at the 'real PA.'
On that very point, it did not help when FD gave it that moniker when clearly it was not remotely like the 'real PA.'
