Looks like more Aussies are being vaccinated.

I think we have to.

Indeed, my problem wanting to be vaccinated but being in phase 2 in the ACT being left to the end. Been trying to see if I can "jump" the queue doesn't seem to be possible.

It is fascinating that the chief health officer of Queensland
Dr Skeletor
Has gone on the record as saying she is having the pfizer vac

This would appear inappropriate
She is over 50 and she is not a Frontline healthcare worker

Why has she made this extraordinary decision which flies in the face of what is being given to every other Australian over 50

Because the "rare" blood clotting issues with the AstraZeneca vaccine are also occurring in people over 50 as we've found out in recent weeks.

https://www.9news.com.au/national/coronavirus-astrazeneca-vaccine-linked-to-six-...

Quote:
A South Australian in a "very serious" condition in hospital is among six new cases of a rare but serious blood clotting condition likely linked to the AstraZeneca COVID-19 jab.

Among the most serious of the new cases is a 53-year-old man who is in Intensive Care in South Australia.
Also among the newly confirmed cases is a 18-year-old woman from Queensland and a 57-year-old woman from Victoria.

An earlier case in a 79-year-old Victorian man has now been confirmed as related to the AstraZeneca shot.
Two other new cases - an 87-year-old South Australian woman and a 71-year-old woman from Victoria - were deemed probably related to the vaccine but inquiries are continuing.

No wonder you have to fill out a 2 page document saying you understand the risks (and no doubt preventing any legal action if something goes wrong, i.e. blood clots) before receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine (like I filled out with my 91 year old aunt at her GP last week when she had her first AstraZeneca "jab").

My understanding was that if you are over 50 and you went to be vaccinated you were given the choice of the astrazeneca vaccine or the astrazeneca vaccine

And my understanding was that if you demanded the pfizer vaccine
You were told you would be waiting until all the under 50s had been done with the pfizer vaccine
With no exceptions

So how does a career bureaucrat who is clearly in her 60s
Obtain for herself a pfizer vaccine
Which flies in the face of the advice that the career bureaucrats are giving to every other Australian

I agree, aqua. Does make you wonder, doesn't it?

Especially when Scott Morrison also had the Pfizer vaccine and he's 53.

OK, so he's the Prime Minister. So what? If anything happens to him I'm sure his deputy can take over the running of the country.

No. It was more based on what the GP/nurse had available when you got the vaccine. If you were under 50 after the changes you could only have the Pfizer. Over 50, you could still get either

I think you are wrong
My understanding is that people over 50 cannot request and receive the pfizer on demand

No, no one can request a type of vaccine.

They were denying the choice precisely to stop what we are seeing now, people holding off to wait for Pfizer.

Something to get us out of this complacency and go and get vaccinated

indeed.

what we now need to say is

"those who have been vaccinated, congratulations, the new restrictions do NOT apply to you"
instead the cheif health officer of qld says, you get NO benefit in terms of freedom from being fully vaccinated.

talk about the stupidity of a beaureaucrat which will result in 100's of 1000's deciding that the main benefit of the vaccine is not there due to some old public servants whim
