No. It was more based on what the GP/nurse had available when you got the vaccine. If you were under 50 after the changes you could only have the Pfizer. Over 50, you could still get either

I think you are wrong
My understanding is that people over 50 cannot request and receive the pfizer on demand

I got the pfizer because I an in a higher risk group - 1B.
I am over 50. Few places have the conditions to store pfizer. ie -80 degree freezer

Well, aqua... you'll be happy to know I've been informed by the doctor who did my thyroid surgery yesterday that I can have my first Covid "jab" (AstraZeneca) in about 2 weeks.

And, I will be having it, of course.

By the way - its been 9 days since my 91 year old aunt received her first AstraZeneca "jab" and she's still fine. In fact, I took her to a follow up appointment with her GP on Tuesday and she was surprised that my aunt hasn't had any reaction whatsoever to the vaccine... not even a sore arm where it was injected last week.

And I dont know how many times has to be explained when the results get sent to the TGA for approval, they are put at the bottom of the pile which takes time to then get to be examined. These were at the top of the pile.

Hmm, yep... but, after watching the behaviour of a large part of Australia's population since the start of the pandemic (panic buying - especially toilet rolls, flouting Covid rules and regulations, fleeing interstate before lockdowns with no concern about possibly spreading Covid and now many people refusing to be vaccinated, etc., etc.) I sometimes wonder if that's really such a bad thing and perhaps we need something like that here?

We do not need heavy-handed tactics in rolling out the vaccinations. I am very likely to get vaccinated later this year when I get that postponed new job. I would likely be required to be vaccinated for covid19. But it should not be forced that we get vaccinated as soon as possible or if we want to get vaccinated. If I continued on and started working in the aged care system, I would be vaccinated by now.
