Unless I missed something, I actually was amazed at the quote LTYC put up about someone else’s posting carrying that sort of knife.

Then I looked at the knife and wondered how I can get one too.

I didn’t think this OP deserved a ban for this thread.
I had no idea about these types of knives were allowed to be carried around.

Me, I’ve been learning online self defence during lockdown.

Once I had bought a Stanley knife from a hardware store closing down. I put it in my handbag and totally forgot I had it.

Whence… going through security scans at a magistrates court and my bag is taken… like WTF?
Well yep… that Stanley knife at bottom of all my junkorama hand bag stuff! Grin

Oh and another time… again my bag was taken…. It was a little torch I had in there. I don’t get it…what’s the problem with a little torch in court?

It is illegal to carry a weapon specifically for the purpose of self defence (or offense).
If you use a weapon in self defence you must be able to show reasonable force.
In some circumstances it may be legal to carry weapons, such as a knife but not for the purpose of self defence. For example you are training in baton then transporting a baton is legal.
I believe these laws apply to very state and territory in Australia apart from an exception to the carrying of pepper spray in western Australia.
So LTYC has correctly identified that Valkie was boasting about carrying a knife specifically for the purpose of self defence, which is a crime.
