When the Chinese fled overseas to avoid being in China during their pandemic, some of the travellers brought their virus with them to new countries. Some of those were doing it deliberately. I recall an article about a Chinese student who was infected with the virus who came to Australia with the intent on getting Australians sick. If I can find the article (likely an opinion piece), I will post the link.

As for the three-child policy of China, I would guess that the Chinese are gearing up to make reinforcements to take on the world. China is well placed to be able to build an economy with a shrinking population. They will need to handle an elderly population. An extra child per family will likely to help China in terms of having the manpower to outmuscle the likes of the United States.

yeah, it still comes in at about 10 % of the spanish flu toll and , taking into account world population has quadrupled, it makes you realise what a storm in a teacup covid is Roll Eyes

How can you believe any of the death toll figures....anywhere in the world?
What, all of a sudden they're now "being honest".
Yeah right.... Grin

It was all about inflating the figures from the start. The financial gain was truly rewarding, except in China. They went the other way and denied any new case. That happened pretty much overnight.

The CCP has more people training in software design then the rest of the world combined

Admit you're error and your cognitive dissonance
And embrace the miraculous and spectacular success of the Chinese system

By the way north my farming friends tell me that
Kiwi fruit cuttings have been smuggled into China
And China will soon be the the world's largest producer of kiwi fruit
So strategic
So dominant

Whats wearing designer clothes got to do with people dying from Corona? Does the virus only target the less fashionable now? Undecided

There are currently 3.7 million deaths worldwide. Considering that China stopped counting cases and death tolls early last year, they have only reported 4,500+ deaths. If 3 million Chinese died from covid, then it would be likely that the real death toll worldwide is about 6 or 7 million.

Sure feeds into the plot of a conspiracy theory!

The one-child policy starts the drop in birthrate, but that created the problem of a quickly aging population.

Then, in 2016, the two-child policy is enacted which has failed because a cultural theme of 'lay-flat-ism' has developed among China's 'Little Emperors' (the progeny of the one-child family) - China's millennials with a version of 'turn on, tune in and drop out', with Chinese characteristics, of course.

Lie-flat-ism is about not striving for a good job, living as simply as possible with no ambition and, most importantly, not having children.

Then a virus that kills the old almost exclusively...

Then in 2021, the three-child policy...

How long will it be before Chinese nationals are forced to have children? It's been done before - during the communist era in Romania under Ceausescu which created a 'plague' of abandoned children.

Abandoned children means more slaves for industries.

Sure got all the motifs of a dystopian movie script!

We can't get many Australian born women to have replacement level children. White women want to have at most 2 children. Asian women seem to have 1 or 2 children. Aboriginal women pop out at least 3 children.

After being told not to breed too much since 1978, the Chinese just cannot seem to be able to undo the fertility decline. They might have to start changing their policy of sterilising west and southwest Asians who do not share the ideals that Beijing want to promote.

There is no point in complaining about not having enough children when a government actively sterilises Uighurs and kills Tibetans. You either want to contract your population or expand it. Very seldom is there a levelling off of the population.

Maybe the next thing will be a dystopian 'Logan's Run' policy hot out of the regime's oven of hell.
