The point is, these people have been found not to be refugees and therefore are not entitled to be given asylum.  The only reason they have been in detention for so long is because of the interminable appeals and protests being made by the illegal immigrant industry. If not for this they would have been repatriated long ago.

So, you'd prefer to send them back to Sri Lanka for torture, would you, Belgarion? Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

As others have pointed out, the fact that they have returned to Sri Lanka twice since attempting to claim asylum seems to indicate that they are in no danger there.  Roll Eyes

Even if there was some substance to their claim, they only had to cross the 50 miles or so of the Palk Strait to be in the Tamil homeland in southern India where they would be among their own people. No need to travel all the way to Australia for refuge... Roll Eyes

India is not their homeland.  Sri Lanka was.  Australia is where they seek it to be.  Tsk, tsk.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Australia is not their homeland either. There are a lot of people who seek to be in Australia who are not entitled to be. These are economic migrants posing as refugees.  Roll Eyes

Allowing the people smuggling racket to start again would see people drowning at sea again, Im sure these people are well regarded and liked by the people of Biloela, but thats not the point. Allowing these people residency as economic migrants may very well start the people smuggling trade again and result in a further loss of lives, as it would set a precedent, exactly what the lawyers are wanting, you need to see the big picture, its not about being heartless. You and others like you are being played by vested interests..

Why do you think they would get tortured Brian?  Thats a strange claim.

They are Tamils.  They fled Sri Lanka for a reason.  Tsk, tsk.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
I ask again, why do you think they will be tortured? what do you base that claim on? Why are you afraid to answer this question?

He was present when the Sri lankan govt. burnt 5 Sri lankan tamils alive just for being tamils .... one was his brother or something, I don't recall the exact details
Stories, but lets not forget he was a member of a terrorist organisation, so how many murders has he himself been complicit in? Maybe thats why he does not wish to return. Im not a big fan of allowing  terrorists to migrate to this country.

so being a Tamil makes him part of a terrorist organisation?

No, being a member of a terrorist organisation makes him part of a terrorist organisation. (LTTE)

The three people in Biloela who want them to stay aren't representative of the majority of Australians. It's undemocratic and rigid of you to think otherwise

After 10yrs in Oz neither of them can speak English, they are going to make great Ossyees

These two Tamils have played the do-gooders like violins by simply waving anchor babies down the throat of the woke medias cameras.

Standby for many many more cases and compo now that a precedent is nearly set, the lawyers are rubbing their hands together in anticipation.
