What a load of schitt.
I will believe it when the Chinese start publishing the data on how many people they have confirmed with the coronavirus in China.

I believe them.
They made their own vaccine and got it out there fast.

I would not know what the vaccine rollout is in China. But, if the vaccine in China is similar to Australia's vaccine program, the doses would be 2 for every 1 person. 1 billion doses would cover 500 million fully vaccinated people. Or 1 billion people for one dosage each. Assuming the claim of a minimum of 500 million people in China being vaccinated at least once, I find that far-fetched that China would be able to get that extensive program in place in a country where people have varying degrees of needs or accessibility. Most Chinese earn less than Australians on the dole. The costs China has imposed on itself with the vaccine rollout would mean that most Chinese are still to be vaccinated even for the first time.

AstraZeneca is a  scary vaccine. It's only a few (5) days Taiwan started vaccination program. 49 Taiwaneses died after AZ vaccinated.

Taiwan got 1.24 million does AstraZeneca from Japan about a week ago.

(correction: just read the article again 49 people died)
Turns  out the Sino vaccines the Chinese were "giving away" to other  countries is almost useless at preventing infection, Indonesia is regretting it now after using this vaccine , lots of deaths of vaccinated people there.

And Bahrain, the UAE, the Seychelles and parts of South America...

This is what happens when a totalitarian regime tries to play 'western'.

BTW the Chinese regime gives nothing away... Even charities are not encouraged in China because the regime's line of 'the state will provide all' is perceived as being undermined if a charity is required in any part of China.

Whatever the regime 'gives away' comes at a price.

We have the same problem there to an unwholesome degree but I guess at least it is open enough that we can criticise and use FoI to see what is happening. Can you imagine the CCP having FoI laws?

The Chinese regime is not communist or capitalist in sensibility...

It is a power-obsessed totalitarian regime, 'with Chinese characteristics', of course...

Which makes it insecure in a way that Stalinism and National Socialism was not... They obviously had a grasp on western sensibility (even if they were perverted).

The Chinese regime is ultra-perverted trying to imitate, then prevail over, a cultural sensibility it doesn't or can never hope to understand.

I do not in anyway support the way the CCP works. In fact I have an offside DiL because of my views.

My point was recognising we have some of the same problem with political self interest but at least we are allowed to investigate it, acknowledge it and condemn it.

Absolutely right.

Of course we have the same problems (we're all human together)... and their resolution can only be achieved by open dialogue - for and against ideas of solving those problems.

It's complicated and sophisticated, but that's what makes the west more capable of solving those problems - the people must step up to have the aptitude for appetite for solving problems, which requires humility by accession to ideas from others that are better than our own.

That and defending a system that denies ultimate and indefinite power to any individual or party.
