So, according to our wonderful and moronic grubberment.
EVs only will be available after 2030.
Greta stuff.
Now, just for a lark, I looked at the affordability and functionality of these toys.
Affordable and obtainable EVs are there, but are they any good?
MGs, Hyundai, etc resale for around $40 to $50 k second hand
The stated range was between 248 to 300 kilometres, and I'm betting that's best case scenario. I imagine stuck in traffic with the aircon on, it will be much less.
You can get a few with over 600k range, but upward of $170 k seems a bit steep for the average joe.
This would mean that those who could best benefit from a cheaper running car, could never use them.
I trip to Sydney and back is around 200k from the Central Coast, and as I said, with traffic there goes the charge.
Worse, a trip from the Blue Mountains with all those lovely hills.
But our gruberment has mandated that EVs are the way to go.
How long before they start punishing petrol or diesel vehicles to drive people into EVs?
And as they are useless for a common daily commute, its just going to make living even harder.
It OK for the latte sipping greenies, they rarely drive more than a few KLM from their flats in and around the CBD, and the teslas they can afford to buy will never be truly used.
But for the poor mug trying to commute, its bend over and prepare to be screwed again in the name of woke climate warriors.
I say, in the name of pollution and congestion, we ban anyone living in Sydney and its surrounds from owning a car at all.
They have ample public transport, pushbike lanes and young willing warriors.
That will reduce both pollution and congestion that us commuters have to suffer every day.
But still make them pay road tax, just because...they deserve it.
