I dropped out of university doing an information technology course. That means I have marginal success in knowing how to program or do multimedia. However, I have had success completing a course in regards to doing research assignments. The coordinators drummed it into our heads that if we did not properly cite our information, we fail.

The other issue is that you don't post the whole article from a website. Just the basic idea from perhaps the first paragraph. Then you can comment about the credibility of the article for others to agree or disagree.

I am not commenting on that, as I am not a lawyer. My experience is based on 24 units of a degree where I had to at least once per essay or project cite what I had researched.

I'm looking up copyright law right now to see where we stand on this. But, whatever I find, I am not going to report you to the University of Melbourne over a copy and paste of an article. I think you are afforded enough protections on this forum to not have to worry about the legalities of it all.

Schedule 1—Amendment of the Copyright Act 1968

20 After subsection 10(2)

Insert:

(2A)
Without limiting the meaning of the expression reasonable portion in this Act, if a person makes a reproduction of a part of:
(a)
a published literary work (other than a computer program or an electronic compilation, such as a database); or
(b)
a published dramatic work;
being a work that is in electronic form, the reproduction is taken to contain only a reasonable portion of the work if:

(c)
the number of words copied does not exceed, in the aggregate, 10% of the number of words in the work; or
(d)
if the work is divided into chapters—the number of words copied exceeds, in the aggregate, 10% of the number of words in the work, but the reproduction contains only the whole or part of a single chapter of the work.
