I have now watched that interview and subsequent bedroom scene for the third time. Twice today. Once a few months back. Giuliani is only told that the character is 15 years old only when Borat comes back in his women's underwear costume. "She is 15. She is too old for you", cries Borat. Giuliani does not react in a way that indicates that he was not in on the scene.

If you look at that 4 minute scene, it is heavily edited. Maria Bakalova crosses her legs and then recrosses them multiple times in quick cut scenes. I have not seen legs crossing from left over right and then right over left since Jordana Brewster had quick cut scenes in the Lethal Weapon tv series. Obviously, the interview took longer than 3 minutes. But, how can Giuliani explain his need to announce a drink with a 15-year-old in the bedroom when the cameramen were still filming. And I had to wonder how Giuliani managed to not notice the hidden camera on the desk, despite the camera being "hidden". Or the apparent act of Giuliani sitting up straight as if to react to Borat coming back.

Subsequent interviews relating to the Borat Subsequent film seem to indicate that this was just a rouse to encourage people to watch the movie. Sasha is too smart to do something illegal and then have it appear in a full-length movie. We would not see this scene in this film if the legality of the scene was questionable. Nothing more than a promotional scene. Bakalova is 24 years old at the time of filming. And Giuliani would not be stupid enough to have an interviewer around him without a background check of her, anyway.

If Cohen hadn't come barging into the room there's no telling what Rudy might have done.

She was very lucky not to have been sexually assaulted.

Because he knew he was on camera and he was acting like he was aware that it seemed like a set up. Giuliani did not overreact when Borat went back into the room wearing women's underwear. Borat's over the top beard would have been obvious to even those that were not paying attention.

a) reporting it to the police was an overreaction, and

b) reporting it to the police proves that he wasn't in on it?
