Japan Awakens & Draws the Line
Jul 1st, 2021 at 9:50pm

Quote:
Speaking at the Hudson Institute on Monday, Deputy Defense Minister Yasuhide Nakayama was frank: The independence of Taiwan is a “redline” for Japan. “We have to protect Taiwan as a democratic country,” he said.

Here we go again - not that this was unpredictable...  Japan making a proxy statement for the West, being part of the international family of civilised democracies now.

Sadly, the Germans are having a problem coming to terms with their historical duty to confront totalitarianism anywhere.

Not that they're sympathetic to the autocratic cause; I think they're still unsure of their right to moral noble-mindedness; that maybe they're not sure if enough time has passed since the holocaust.

I believe that the Chinese regime's 'birthday celebrations', with its malevolent posturing, will quickly prove to be an anachronistic and catastrophic mistake.

The world has been through this 100 to 80 years ago and it took the greatest war in history to end it.

I hate to burst all of your bubbles, but you all have to face up the reality.

The QUAD - USA, Japan, India and us Australia...   China is the top trading partner of all of the QUAD countries.

I am sorry... but... all of this... 'drums of war...', they are just for domestic consumption.   You have to follow the money... this is where all the powers lie.

And I dont think... the world is weaning off China...  Its China... trying to wean off Australia... and the QUAD allies are filling the spaces where we left.   Undecided

Smart move by China there - weaning itself off its trading partners... leaving only the option of invasion to grab markets.  Japan, of course, tried that once so they know the reality.  I suppose the West pushed them to it... of course... it's all Whartey's fault again.. and being yellow puts you in an Oppressed™ group ..... Critical Race Theory, ya know...

I'm certain my beautiful Chinese oncologist lady doesn't feel she is inferior to me, in any way at all.

Pretty pale, too... as many Chinese are, up north where it's cold a lot.

I am not sure... but I think.. our government's message is a bit conflicting.  I mean, basically we said to the Chinese, we are not happy with you  X Y and Z.  And we've got your pulse in our purse - namely the mines.  The Chinese turn around and said, okay.. fine.. lets... start decoupling as your media have suggested - like Newscorp... which... most people here on the forum, and most of the coalition voters believe is the mouthpiece of our government.

Of course, then... when it happened... we then take them to WTO for unfair trading, at the same time, our media yelling we NEED to decouple NOW.

So, they are like OKAY... we are trying.

And then the US and European countries... 'Oh by the way... we do happen to have some beef... seafood... cheese barley and wines too if you are short....

And of course... India... after having some... let say disagreement with China over McMahon line... did this....

https://www.theweek.in/news/biz-tech/2020/09/21/india-turns-net-exporter-of-steel-to-china-for-the-first-time-in-years.html

Of course, they DO know that China is building a third aircraft carrier.   Smiley

Anyway... my point is Grappler... we need to look past what is available to us in terms of domestic version of international affairs.

And lastly... why is everyone worried about China invading Australia ? For what?  Iron ore? They are buying tons of them very year.  If we stop selling them, they will just buy from a third country. Abit it would be probably 10 to 20% more expensive.  But can you imagine the the logistic of preparing an invasion force of such a scale - that it stretches 2 continents, across many different countries.  As you said.. the Japanese couldnt do it.  The Germans couldnt do it with Africa.  The Russians couldnt do it, and the USA couldnt do it even with places like Afghanistan and Iraq.   What made you think the Chinese are foolish enough to try something as fruitless as this?    And plus if they divert enough troops, their borders wont be as secure.   And to top it all off... they cant even invade Taiwan.

At least you've outed yourself as the wumao that you are instead of playing the 'fair-minded' fence-sitter,.

The democratic world will succeed in choking the regime into collapse. There is no doubt that this regime is already at least as dangerous as Hitler's in 1935.

BTW where was Jiang Zemin and Zhu Rongji? Word is they boycotted the party's party.

A third country eh wumao? Like where? Argentina with its destroyed iron ore mining operation and battling the virus that China gave the world? From African states without the capacity to supply iron ore?

The Chinese regime's intended to cripple Australia's economy only to realise it had no choice but to buy iron ore from Australia.

By the time any other nation is capable of providing China with the iron ore it needs, the regime will have collapsed.

All this '1.4 billion on our side' is garbage and is reminiscent of Hitler's obsession with the resilience of the German people to fight and win all wars on all fronts.

Communist party members total only 7% of the Chinese population and the other 93% have never been tested by elections on their willingness to support the regime.

I am just merely stating the facts that are widely available on the internet in various international news outlet, from sources more related to economy.   You are welcome to state your own evidence, but even as a young child, I was taught to think critically.   And at the moment, with the world economy so intertwined  with each other, it is hard for me to agree with your view that the democratic world are doing anything like attempting to choke the regime into collapse.

What does Wumao mean?  I tried to google, but nothing really relevant coming up.

And i dont know what is happening with Jiang Zemin, or Zhu Rongji...  Huh Huh Huh  So I googled them for you.   Jiang is 94 years old, and Zhu is 92 years old.  So my educated guess is that they are probably at home and retired?

Taught to think critically eh, wumao? Like China's lost generation during the cultural revolution?

You didn't google wumao and found nothing did you, wumao... It's a regime thing to get the wumao to lie like children.

Jiang Zemin and Zhu Rongji likely boycotted the event because they oppose Xi Jinping.

I am sorry North, but I had been working over time the past few weeks, so may be I am not up to date with current arguments.  But what the hell are you talking about?  Are you North?   How is this relevant to my arguments?

If you bother to read the articles that I have posted, then you will find that there are heaps.  But to be relevant, lets stay within the QUAD countries.

Iron ore is used mainly to turn it into Steel for construction and manufacturing.  So... as such... India increased its steel export to China in 2020 on the back of high iron ore prices - as a way to ease China's dependence on Australian iron ore.

On another front...: India, Indonesia benefit as China's ban on Australian coal reshapes trade flows - seen in this article.

https://www.reuters.com/article/coal-trade-idUSKBN2BV1GN

So.. the reality is that, my original view stands.

And finally, a third country does not have to be the primary producing country.  It could be a transit country - like perhaps: Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, or even Taiwan.  If the price and market is right, they will establish third party companies to buy and store Australian Iron, and then on-sell them to China.   These can be done really easily without invasion.
