Still beats me why so many people are travelling all over Australia and around the world while we're in the middle of a steadily worsening pandemic?

Someone was also asking on Twitter the other day what was going on with all these flights arriving in Melbourne (apparently mostly from China and the US) which the writer claims were not on the 'official' list of flights and the passengers getting off them were not going to hotel quarantine but were being driven off to places unknown.

No wonder we keep getting more and more Covid outbreaks.

Da heck?!! What’s with these flights? I thought we were locked in from all around our shores?
Does this mean…. I can just go to London or USA for that matter?
Did this international traveller from Tasmania… have any vax before embarking on a journey?
Therefore, why can’t the rest of Covid vaccinated Oz citizens travel at will ?
Enquiring minds want to know.

What you've said is correct - the vax is meant to prevent hospitalisation and death, it doesn't guarantee that you won't catch the virus and/or spread it.

Whether or not the woman who died was vaccinated, we don't actually know.

They used weasel words: "Chief health officer Kerry Chant said she believed the woman had not been vaccinated."

Lots of people believe in aliens, and that Trump won the 2020 election, and that stepping on cracks in the footpath will break your mamma's back - it doesn't make those things true though.

And, if she was vaccinated I doubt very much that they would ever let us know.

Saying "I believe" is a cop out, and should immediately ring alarm bells in your head.

NSW was free of Covid and businesses were recovering

Politicians let more Covid in via international flight crews

Politicians get upset because people are not doing the right thing

Politicians fine people and impose lock-downs

Politicians become divided - some want businesses to continue, some don't

Vic Premier wants Victorians in NSW to come home and spread Covid down there

"believed", "understood" - weasel words used to cover herself in the event that it turns out the woman was vaccinated.

Has she come out and said "I can categorically state as a fact that the woman was not vaccinated"?

I'm curious.

But when you look at how much the vaccines reduce your risk of developing severe illness that requires hospitalisation, the coverage is high for both. Pfizer and Astrazeneca vaccines are 96% and 92% effective (respectively) in preventing Delta variant hospitalisations.
