Uh, oh... look out Bobby (and the rest of Victoria).

NSW COVID-19 outbreak spreads to Victoria with 'two incursion events'

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/nsw-covid-19-outbreak-spreads-to-victoria-with-two-i...

Two families in Victoria have gone into isolation after a second removalist from NSW tested positive for COVID-19. Two new positive cases have also been detected in two returned travellers from NSW.

Quote:
Sydney's COVID-19 outbreak has breached the Victorian border again, with two members of a Melbourne family testing positive after returning home.

Victoria's COVID Commander Jeroen Weimar said three of the family of four from the City of Hume arrived on a flight from Sydney on July 4 carrying red zone permits.

Enough with these "permits". Put a stop to ALL non essential travel NOW before we have more and more Covid outbreaks all around Australia.

Covid might also be heading north shortly...

COME HOME NOW: Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk calls for Queenslanders to retreat north

https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/qld-to-ease-restrictions-stay-op...

Quote:
Queenslanders in regional NSW have been told to return home now to avoid being locked out if the coronavirus spreads beyond Greater Sydney.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has opted to keep the border open to regional NSW but has also warned that could change very quickly if the virus escapes from greater Sydney’s lockdown zone.

“My message to Queenslanders is if you are in those areas, come home. I can’t be any clearer,” she said on Monday.

I'm prepared to bet that's already happened which means Annastacia could soon be in the same Covid mess as Gladys is at the moment.

Annasatcia isn't as dumb as Gladys ... first sign of covid and we'll immediately lock down so they can get on top of it before it spreads. Same thing they did a couple of weeks ago

We were so incredibly lucky with how well that went and how little exposure there was.

But I wonder if that means we'll be a victim of our success.

We already have enough people saying things like "it's nothing to worry about" simply because we have been worrying about it and keeping it under control.  That mentality, that selfish me me me poorly disguised as "oh won't someone think of the children" is what defeats us from within.

And fate can be a real bitch sometimes and these people rarely face the consequences of their actions.

But I digress.

We all need to continue to do the right thing now more than ever, but if this forum is in any way representative of the community as a whole, that's too much to ask it seems.

meh

covid will eventually be another disease just like the flu in terms of how we view it.

already the sensible singaporeans are stopping the data on cases and contact tracing and just reporting hospital presentations (which is what we have done with the flu for 50 years).

delta seems about 4 times as transmissable as the flu and about 3 times as deadly.
(12x)
fluvax is usually only about 60 % effective.

the current vaxes seem about that good or better.

so , crunching the numbers with my focused brain.

i think covid in 2023, 2024,2025 and in perpetuity should be killing about 12 x the flu tally.

flu kills about 1000 a yr, covid should knock off about 12,000.

not species ending .

diabetes, cancer, heart disease and strokes all kill more.

we will learn to live with it.

we certainly wont have premiers holding news conferences describing each death
unless they think the public want 12,000 politician delivered eulogies per year (which they dont/wont).

we'll look back on this in 4 or 5 years and think

WTF were people doing in 2021, filling every moment of every news cycle with covid.

we are going to have to learn to live (and die ) with it.

why not make a start now.
you are only putting off the inevitable  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I had a holiday plannned last week so when they first announced the covid case in Qld I said to my wife that I hope they lock down immediately and get on top of it before we're supposed to leave. She didn't let me down and as a result I spent a great week travelling through Qld

I would have to wonder if they are at a higher percentage than the general population. All things considered, the different things people are nutty about, I suspect not. We have a good selection of nuttiness, Rightwing nuttiness, PC nuttiness, conspiracy nuttiness, we have it all. Even you are a part of that nuttiness.

Our low vaccination rates are due to complacency from us being largely virus-free.

We have a few complacent ones on this forum too.
