Do you think b4 you post?

Do you have to post insults every time someone posts something you don't agree with?

That's twice now for me in the past few days. I'm keeping score.

Loads of unknown unfamous Aussies are also coming home

Yeah, but most of them don't seem to be "genuine stranded Aussies".

List of ‘stranded Aussies’ abroad grows because people leave Australia for work: Chris Smith

Quote:
Labor has been “bashing up” the federal government over an alleged inability to get stranded Aussies home from abroad yet Australia has had roughly 216,000 of them return over the last nine months, according to Sky News host Chris Smith.

Quote:
“So a rough and conservative calculation would find that we’ve had 6,000 per week returning for 9 months. That’s 216,000 Australians.

“But we still have 34,000 stranded.

“And the answer is, that each month, we’ve also had 41,000 citizens and 6,000 visa holders leaving each month. Shocked

“The list grows, because either newly departed visa holders or citizens, want to come home".

So much for Australia's so called "closed borders". No wonder we'll never be able to stop Covid outbreaks.

Yes - please explain. Roll Eyes

I suspect it has reached the point where the majority of Australians have just given up complaining about all this preferential treatment given to "celebrities", movie "stars", sports "stars" and other assorted rich people.

Which is probably exactly what the governments (both Federal and State) have been hoping for... just wear everyone down until they give up through pure frustration and a sense of hopelessness.

aussies have to pay  their own way back and finding a plane isnt that easy  my daughter has been doing nothing else first fromLaos and now from Canberra its very complex.. Australia isnt saying no you cant come back  but there has to be some restrictions like States being willing to accept them and accommodate their 14 days..I would Imagine NSW is no go zone right now for returning ex pats... and this is what keeps happening...celebrities have all sorts of marketing working for them they dont have to find their own transport... what annoys the crap out of me is  people being refused permission to visit with dying family members yet whole football teams are allowed in.. and we all know how good footballers are at breaking the rules.. Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry bad form Qld..

For multi nationals yes for the small business man or woman NO.

Yesterday I went to 3 supermarkets they were all packed social distancing was absent and yet all the little shops just outside the supermarket were locked up.

Sad there will be no small business left soon the way we are going.

Yeah I don't get that either.

Even if the rules for small businesses had been very strict, the shop proprietors still may have appreciated being able to continue serving customers. Their doors could be closed with "OPEN" signs, and let customers in one at a time and not let them in unless wearing a mask and keep well away from the counter via a barrier once in the shop

Not all businesses could work this, but the majority could

It's not a top down conspiracy, but it's showing how large interests jump to benifit.
I know one old school burger joint, the owner makes great burgers but he's crap at ticking all the Covid safe stuff so he's closed. Meanwhile, Mc$hit is still pumping out their food shaped turds.

FYI, Carl has been retired for the past 2 years and living on his superannuation pension after working since 1974.

I would have liked to continue working (since I was one of the seemingly few people these days that actually enjoyed their jobs) but due to my health issues and also having to look after my elderly aunt I decided to take early retirement. Hope that's OK?

P.S. I am not getting a cent from Centrelink and haven't since I was unemployed for a time in the early 1980's.

Fair enough, but you must see that as much as you may not like it, Bruce_Cait WILL generate income that gets taxed and flows into the system.

Ah, yes... the good old 'trickle down effect'.

I forget who said it many years ago but, in their opinion, there's usually only one thing that 'trickles down' and you probably wouldn't want to be standing under it if it does.

Speaking of the spread of COVID-19 ...

An interesting point was made about the aerosol aspect of the virus spread on News Breakfast this morning.

The guy mentioned that it is similar to cigarette smoke - COVID can't be smelt like smoke, but if you think about how far off you can smell cigarette smoke - that is how far this virus can spread - so ... wear a mask!!!

NSW records 105 local COVID-19 cases and one death

https://www.9news.com.au/national/coronavirus-update-nsw-records-105-cases-and-o...

Quote:
New South Wales has recorded 105 local cases of coronavirus and one death in the last 24 hours
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said 27 of those new cases were infectious in the community.
"That is the number that worries us the most," Ms Berejiklian said.
"As we have explained previously, we won't see the results of this until five days because there is a lag in the data."

Still not looking too good, Gladys. And, sadly, yet another death.

Now I'm off to read all the replies on her Twitter Page (which she obviously never posts on or reads, of course) which has become one of the highlights of my day in the past week.

What do we do if we can smell cigarette smoke with the masks on like I (and every other person I've spoken to in the past few weeks) can? Shocked
