We have lockdowns because not enough people are vaccinated or had the virus already. But the low vaccination rate is partly due to.... er.....  scientific advice against vaccination, advice informed by .... er..... absence of skgnificant outbreaks. The politics of scientific advice. Or is it the science of political advice?

Explained in Senate Estimates.

Several things strike me there. 1 P{aterson couldnt help have a dig at the states 2. Growing a beard still doesn't styop him looking like a member of the Hitler Youth 3. ATAGI don't determine policy, they give advice based on context and data, remember for instance that ATAGI based on at the time the low level of outbreaks advised against under 40s getting AZ and Scotty from Marketing ignored them

BS Kanga, you're unvaccinated because you were lazy and complacent.

I rang a few Pfizer clinics, one told me they take uneligibles when they had unbooked spots and fitted me in 3 days later. Easy peasy.

You're not vaccinated because you're lazy. Own that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry I wasn't so selfish as you and didn't try to jump the queue and take a vaccine from someone in a more vulnerable state than I am.  Since the latest clusters, I've tried harder with more walk-in attempts rather and I've tried bookings for myself and my wife and there is just no supply.

Good on you for getting yours early you selfish cu
nt
.

I hope your vaccine doesn't go to waste and you live a long and healthy life.

So you know Pfizer has a fiddly cold chain. Did you hear that bit?
The clinic I went to has to put their vaccine into arms because they committed to a vaccine purchase numbers and had limited storage. It has to get used.

I phoned, was given an unbooked spot, that was the clinic's policy, BTW there were PLENTY of unbooked spots.

Your attitude is the exact thing I despise about socialists.
You're like a little baby bird that sits there with your mouth open, waiting for a worm to be dropped in.

Edit: I got mine ages ago when there was no Covid panic and little demand.
Everyone else was complacent, I was proactive.

the delta variant will not be eradicated now.

forget it.

the best hope is vaccination and personal responsibility.

pissing off millions of people so they wont get on board will only make it worse.

oh, and by the way

the figures from the mighty sweden

for the last 4 days

365 new cases in Sweden [source]
Updates
228 new cases in Sweden [source]
Updates
232 new cases in Sweden [source]
Updates
257 new cases and 1 new death in Sweden [source]

1
death out of 1000 cases.

fully open , fully awesome, fully learning to live with it.

no big deal. probably doesnt even get a mention on the news

and for skippy

A country that has been one of the world’s most successful at combating Covid-19 has announced it will soon fundamentally change how it manages the pandemic.

The city state of Singapore has stated covid will be treated like other endemic diseases such as flu.

There will be no goals of zero transmission. Quarantine will be dumped for travellers and close contact of cases will not have to isolate. It also plans to no longer announce daily case numbers.

The virus will keep on mutating and it will
become immune to the present vaccines.
That will mean that we'll need new vaccines once or
twice per year which is impossible -
so the lockdowns will continue for the next 10 years or more - possibly forever.
That is why Dirty Dan and Gladys the Clown are idiots -
They think they can win against a virus.
They might as well stand on the beach and tell the tide not to come in.

That was on June 28th, here's the latest:

Singapore Still Can’t Live With the Virus

https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-07-19/singapore-prepared-to-live...

Just weeks after issuing new guidelines for co-existing with low levels of Covid, the government has tightened curbs after an outbreak at a karaoke lounge.

Quote:
It was just a matter of time before Singapore’s commitment to live with Covid-19 would be tested. The only surprise is how quickly that moment came and how avoidable it was.

On Friday, Singapore announced it would tighten certain social-distancing measures and ramp up contact tracing and testing to contain a cluster that started at a karaoke lounge. The Ministry of Health said the outbreak will delay reopening plans, which could be rolled back significantly if virus numbers surge.

Next up will be the United Kingdom with their foolish plan to reopen everything too early, things are not looking good so far with Boris Johnson already in isolation after contact with a Covid case.  Roll Eyes
