if it is just to suppress , then 15 minutes after you stop, you are back to square 1.

Lockdowns aren't about eradicating the spread. They are about minimising the spread between susceptible individuals thus reducing potential burden on health care system.

ok,

so

when the lockdown ends and the delta variant is still circulating, exactly how long before the numbers start to escalate?

a week?

you really think locking down for a month is worth that?

and then when they do escalate WHICH THEY WILL, whats your strategy.

let me guess.

back into lockdown.

now thats a non productive strategy dont you think  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

NSW recorded 110 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Up again, Gladys. Doesn't look too good for ending the lockdown anytime in the foreseeable future.

Yes it's in Orange, Blayney, Molong and Bathurst now. The Authorities failed to do what they said they'd do - "KEEP SYDNEY FOLK OUT OF RURAL NSW" - just goes to show they can't be trusted, and rural folk are angry

Refund all the fines, sack the politicians and defund the Police. What a terrible mess they're making of it. NSW was free of Covid then they let it back in, and they're not the least bit remorseful of their traitorous action

There's got to be a sinister reason

Why blame conspiracy when cock-up is more likely?

it is neither a conspiracy nor a cock up.

it is the delta variant which WILL NOT be erradicated.

the aim of lockdowns is to erradicate the virus, is it not?

No.

We very rarely if ever eradicate infectious diseases.

Small pox in humans (even if there are some reserves in the US and Russia)
Rinderpest in cows

We've eradicated wild type 2 and 3 poliovirus but not wild type 1 or vaccine derived polio
We're very close to eradicating Guinea worm disease

Dirty Dan wasn't happy till he eradicated the virus -
we had no cases for many months - a few times -
but of course it came back from overseas travelers.
Now - we're into Dan's endless cycles of lockdowns.

Gladys will likely do the same as Dan.

Overseas travelers were the problem this time, and the politicians let them in, now we've got Covid in the community once more

A letter writer in today's West Australian wants to know why Covid is still coming into Australia when National Cabinet decided some time ago that everyone coming to Australia had to have 2 negative Covid tests before boarding the planes.

She then asks are they catching Covid on the planes or is there some incompetence or corruption going on with the people who are supposed to be doing the tests and perhaps there should be 14 days quarantine before boarding the planes to Australia and another 14 after arriving here.

She concluded by pointing out that the lockdowns in the eastern States at the moment are costing billions and ruining peoples' lives and we should be entitled to some answers.

Gladys will do no such thing. The virus will not die down in NSW precisely because Gladys only believes in half measures. She hasn't the brains to stop the virus. I suspect NSW will still be trying to stop this outbreak well beyond Oct.

Well those answers haven't been forthcoming, we might get them when the info is de-classified 30 years from now. In other words, there's elections to be won first

When the next election comes around, it'll be: "WE WILL FIX THE ECONOMY FOR YOU, don't worry"

It's not about Covid, it's about retaining power

Every Lib Lab school boy knows that
