Total cases in latest outbreak NSW is 1782

with the case numbers today not revealed yet.

NSW is bracing for another rise in Covid-19 cases today after a record rise yesterday and a state of emergency being declared.

Amid the concerning case numbers, the state’s lockdown is set to remain until mass vaccination, with the government considering military assistance in the meantime to stop the Delta strain spread.

According to a source quoted by the Daily Telegraph, troops may be brought in to guard barriers set up around Sydney as the government works to “harden the lockdown” and ensure safe travel out of “hot zones”.

NSW recorded 163 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases
in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

It's the highest number of daily infections recorded in this Delta outbreak.

A record 93,000 tests were performed.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said with 66 cases resulting from household contact, it is clear that families are still gathering together against the restrictions.

"I want to stress again that when we look at the numbers, what we see is transmission particularly as a result of family members getting together when they just should not be getting together," he said.

"It was only a few days ago that we were in the 70s. So what it is telling us is we have a continuing and growing problem, particularly in south-west and western Sydney."

There have been 18 cases linked to a family gathering in Pendle Hill.

Even if Victoria gave away all our Pfizer allocation to NSW it would be like shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

NSW should have locked down harsher faster.

Dan is offering our contact tracing support once we are out of the woods. At least that's something.
