It looks like the NSW lockdown is going to have to go on for many weeks yet.  Sad

Dan was made to feel guilty on TV just now
for not giving Sydney all our Pfizer vaxes -
because NSW helped us during the fires and floods.

Even if Victoria gave away all our Pfizer allocation to NSW it would be like shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

NSW should have locked down harsher faster.

Dan is offering our contact tracing support once we are out of the woods. At least that's something.

Also Victoria is still having a dozen new cases a day thanks to the NSW removalists and Gladys's pathetically week lockdown

NSW recorded 163 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases
in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

It's the highest number of daily infections recorded in this Delta outbreak.

A record 93,000 tests were performed.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said with 66 cases resulting from household contact, it is clear that families are still gathering together against the restrictions.

"I want to stress again that when we look at the numbers, what we see is transmission particularly as a result of family members getting together when they just should not be getting together," he said.

"It was only a few days ago that we were in the 70s. So what it is telling us is we have a continuing and growing problem, particularly in south-west and western Sydney."

There have been 18 cases linked to a family gathering in Pendle Hill.

“We are a very multicultural society in southwest and western Sydney and it is one of the joys of this nation that we are a proud multicultural nation,” he said.

“But sometimes people who have come from overseas perhaps have suffered at the hands of other governments and perhaps getting the messages through is challenging.

“So, we need to find ways to keep working at that and get the messages through.”

Mr Hazzard said a high proportion of people were out and about while infectious.

“In other words 45 people were out walking around and potentially spreading the virus which certainly explains why our numbers are going up,” he said.

He said the Fairfield local government area had 34 cases in the past 24 hours, while the Canterbury-Bankstown area also recorded 34 cases to 8pm on Friday night.

Mr Hazzard said Cumberland was “showing up quite dramatically” with 26 cases and Blacktown had 15 cases in the past 24 hours.

Sell home test kits, we need them urgently

Not a bad idea.

If Health are worried, they could come with a Q code, which could be registered at the pharmacist when you buy. It could be mandatory to report the results.

The thing about testing though, is the recording and contact tracing that come with them. Also, pharmacies are not yet set up to monitor and record tests.

Doesn't mean we could'nt try.

Exactly

It need not have anything to do with governments, we need to exercise our consumer right to just go and buy them for personal use

Isn't it kind of ironic that the same people who don't trust governments and government directives are now complaining because other people don't trust Governments and Government directives?

I can't see how that could be enforced.

This lockdown isn't affecting me in a bad way. Work has been so busy I've had two contractors doing extra all week, and next. My daughter keeps ordering Poké bowls for lunch, but apart from that, it's all good.

But....I feel really sorry for people who live week to week. Was just chatting to a tradie who is OK but has subbies who wont be able to make rent or mortgage payments.

Here's my idea. Anyone who is unvaccinated and vulnerable, old or just scared should totally lockdown, and the Govt will send them free food supplies.
They can hide until they have their vaccine. Everyone else should just get back to business.

I know, right?

Indonesia is the new epicentre of the COVID pandemic as the Delta variant surges and vaccination rates lag

A COVID-19 crisis has unfolded as the highly transmissible Delta variant tears through Indonesia, where health facilities have buckled under the pressure.

Cases in the fourth-most populous nation in the world are soaring — killing doctors and children — and it has become the new coronavirus epicentre, surpassing India, despite only having a fraction of its population.

On Thursday alone, official figures revealed more than 49,500 new positive cases and 1,449 deaths — the highest since the pandemic began.

I exercised my personal right to get tested at a Laverty Pathology pop up clinic.

Results took two days longer than the NSW Health clinics.

Sometimes, the government does a better job.
