Keep in mind that even though China, India and the United States had 1.4 billion (allegedly); 1.3 billion; and 330 million people respectively to choose from to be part of their 2020 Olympic team, they did send over 406 (China); 122 (India); and 613 (USA) athletes. Compared to Australia that sent over 477 athletes, China and the USA did well to top the gold medal count. Japan (552) and Great Britain (376) came in 3rd and 4th on the gold medal tally. Team Great Britain had fewer athletes. Great Britain has had 6 million covid19 cases. The United States has had 35 million covid cases. You would think there would be a good chance that teams from both countries have been suffering from the virus in high percentages. So, if they got better and went on to win a medal or attained a personal best, that is all the more special for them.

Meanwhile, the only setback for Australia was that we could not field the entire track team to compete in the 4 x 100 or the 4 x 400 metres relay event. And still, we did put together a decent showing at the Tokyo games. Certainly better than that lackluster (who cares) attempt in London. And certainly better than that "will we or won't we die" sheeitshow in Rio.
