The developed word has benefited from pumping fossil fuels into the atmosphere for centuries and is now complaining they are being asked to do more....Why should anyone do anything if those who have the ways and means and benefited the most leave it to others....Responsibility and accountability are hollow words when they are not supported by action....We all suffer the consequences of AGW and must all do more to reduce emissions where ever possible instead of passing the buck like the Coalition always does when faces with a challenge!!!

We are not in it together.

By population, Australia is 3 times average. China is twice average emissions.  Australia and China bad.

Australia could pollute the same amount for the next 29 years and it will not do any considerable damage worldwide. But, China would need to reduce its industrial pollution output by about 50 times to be a decent non-polluting nation.

Then its population would be like Australia. Your maths is as good as Scomo's.

If China put in place technology that reduced its industrial pollution by 50 times, that would be a fantastic attempt at reducing global carbon emissions. But, the reality is that an amazing attempt at pollution reduction would be if China reduced the pollution output by 10 times.

Australia could theoretically be carbon neutral and have clean energy and marginal pollution compared to what we have today. The only place that would benefit from this would be Australia. It would still be reason enough to implement these strategies. The rest of the world would still be polluting like usual.

Scomo could put Brittany Higgins as PM and he could join Labor. Xi could go fruit-picking in Riverina and play bass guitar in the evening.

Yeah, well it is not like I could live to see the day China could reduce its current pollution output by 50 times. But I could live to see the day when China reduces its pollution to 1/10th of what it is. I could say the same about Australia, too.

ScoMo can whip the undeveloped world for the European record temperature of 48.8C in Italy.

Those undeveloped world people should know better than to expose our wog mates to excessive heat and should seek forgiveness from Australia in particular for the AGW crimes of the undeveloped world.

Italy may have registered Europe's hottest temperature on record
Published3 hours ago

The Italian island of Sicily may have registered the hottest temperature ever recorded in Europe - 48.8C (119.8F).

Regional authorities reported the reading, which needs to be verified by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), near Syracuse on Wednesday.

According to the WMO, the current official record in Europe is 48C, registered in Athens, Greece, in 1977.

The latest heatwave in Italy is being caused by an anticyclone - nicknamed Lucifer - moving up from Africa.

Anticyclones are areas of high atmospheric pressure where the air is sinking.

Lucifer is forecast to head north across mainland Italy, further raising temperatures in cities including the capital, Rome.

Can you tell me how the math goes? Is it MWh@per person or it it more complicated than that? How does the country's sequestration offset it's @head emmissions? It's wind and solar generation? How is this number arrived at?

"Mr Morrison said Australia had a "strong track record of performance" in reducing emissions.
"We cannot ignore the fact that the developing world accounts for two thirds of global emissions and those emissions are rising," he said."

Is it MWh@per person or it it more complicated than that?
Do you count the methane from the limestone in bushfires in Siberia? Why does the Amazon absorb oxygen at night? Will Scomo go for hard lock-down on coal, this is coal don't be scared?
Scomo?

"There is no way you can write the sentence, “The treasurer of Australia, Scott Morrison, came to question time with a lump of coal on Thursday,” and have that sentence seem anything other than the ravings of a psychedelic trip, so let’s just say it and be done with it.

Scott Morrison brought coal into the House of Representatives. A nice big hunk of black coal, kindly supplied by the Minerals Council of Australia.

“This is coal,” the treasurer said triumphantly, brandishing the trophy as if he’d just stumbled across an exotic species previously thought to be extinct.

“Don’t be afraid,” he said, soothingly, “don’t be scared.”

No one was afraid, or scared. People were just confused. "

Globally, many more people die from cold than from heat. A new study in the highly respected journal Lancet shows that about half a million people die from heat, but 4.5 million people die from cold. As temperatures have increased over the past two decades, that has caused an extra 116,000 heat deaths each year. This, of course, fits the narrative and is what we have heard over and again. But it turns out that because global warming has also reduced cold waves, we now see 283,000 fewer cold deaths. You don’t hear this, but so far climate change saves 166,000 lives each year.
