Australia blames developing world for AGW
Aug 11th, 2021 at 9:21pm

You nasty developing nations stop your carbon emissions immediately or Scotty will stamp his foot.

Australia's carbon emissions of 10x per capita of those of the developing world are holy, blessed, and cause no harm to the planet.

Even Australian cattle farts are saintly.

Mr Morrison claimed Australia is "the most transparent country in the world" when it comes to reporting on emissions reductions.
"And I will be calling on the rest of the world to match our transparency," he said.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report showed the world will cross the 1.5C warming mark in the 2030s.

In three scenarios, the world will also likely exceed 2C over pre-industrial times — the other, less stringent Paris goal — with far worse heat waves, droughts and flood-inducing downpours "unless deep reductions in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions occur in the coming decades," the report said. ...

He's right - first world emission cuts are swamped by third world emission increases.

And China - get this - is counted as a third world developing country for emission.  Cry Cry

Australia has no substantial emission cuts other than the effects of Covid and a trickle of renewables.

The UK has nearly one-third the carbon emissions per capita that Australia has, NZ is 0.5x Australia's rate.

Interesting maths. The developing world has 66% emissions and 70% population. We can't ignore that wisdom from Scott Emissions.

China, 30%
Oz, 1%

Oz is cutting back on the 1%. China is building more coal fired power every year than Oz's entire emission.

Because it's a 'developing' country.  Cry

And there are morons in Australia and the West who buy this swindle.

This does not suit the alarmists,  virtue signallers and China apologists, therefore it is not mentioned in their rants.

Wow. Such a non-believer. But he is wrong. He is too conservative on population.

According to the IMF the population of developing countries is about 85% of world population.

https://www.worlddata.info/developing-countries.php

And the emissions? He is slightly wrong as of 2015 their emissions of 63%.

Yeah. And in 10 years time, third world/developing nations might get to be 80% of the carbon emissions and 90% of the world's population. And their solution to cutting carbon emissions would be to dump their excess population onto the first world minority who will have to scramble over the years to find places for these new 'migrants' because-because-because the average person in the developing world in 2031 may only be producing 7/10ths the amount of pollution as the average first-world person.

How about adopting an idea that the first world has made their own mess and have started to make great strides in cleaning them up? And that the third world could learn from the mistakes that the first world has done and develop their economies with sustainable energy sources? The first world had not a precedent in place to learn how to deal with pollution, when they developed industries. The third world does.

Gee - it's a miracle!  Someone blames the emerging world for pollution when the emerging world is creating the vast majority of pollution.... and that's only the people they export...................... then there is a dark side..... industry based on fossil fuels.....

This one's for you Smithy...

"What do they call a planeload of Italians arriving at the airport?"

"Air pollution"..... (sorry Lols.. I know you're better) .....

Hey LTC , I was supporting your views. This is from your quoted site:
"We cannot ignore the fact that the developing world accounts for two thirds of global emissions and those emissions are rising," he said. 66%

This is 10 years old but still is relevant.
"The vast majority (70 per cent) live in developing countries."

https://www.un.org/en/development/desa/population/publications/pdf/popfacts/popfacts_2010-6.pdf

Of the world population in 2016 (7.5 billion), 6.1 billion people, 80%, lived in developing economies.
https://unctad.org/system/files/official-document/tdstat42_FS11_en.pd

So they are less polluting than OECD by populations.

This may be of assistance:

In mathematics, a percentage (from Latin per centum "by a hundred") is a number or ratio expressed as a fraction of 100. It is often denoted using the percent sign, "%"

The bottom ten countries on the list of emissions per capita have less than one-tenth the emissions of Australia.

NZ is half the emissions of Australia per capita.

UK and other European countries have ~one-third the emissions of Australia.

Developed countries have been polluting for over 100 years.

Bottom ten below

182      Ethiopia      0.12      2014
183      Niger              0.11      2014
184      Mali              0.08      2014
185      Malawi      0.08      2014
186      Rwanda      0.08      2014
187      Central African Republic      0.07      2014
188      Dem. Rep. Congo              0.06      2014
189      Chad              0.05      2014
190      Somalia      0.05      2014
191      Burundi      0.04      2014
192      Sudan      0.00      2018

Top eleven polluters below:

1      Qatar              43.86      2014
2      Trinidad and Tobago      33.97      2014
3      Kuwait              25.85      2014
4      Bahrain              23.46      2014
5      United Arab Emirates      22.94      2014
6      Brunei              22.23      2014
7      Saudi Arabia      19.44      2014
8      Luxembourg      17.36      2014
9      United States      16.50      2014

By population, Australia is 3 times average. China is twice average emissions.  Australia and China bad.

Oh dear, we are back to the flawed notion that gross CO2 emissions don't count it is the per capita emissions that do. Roll Eyes
