Dagger ban reversed in NSW schools
Aug 13th, 2021 at 5:07pm

Religious nutters carrying daggers to school is just insane.

A kid got stabbed in the back at school by one of these nutters.

"The kirpan being carried must be no bigger than 8.5 centimetres, with no sharp edges or points."

Something like a crucifix or butter knife in school lunch?

So if you're a Sikh  you can carry a knife.

In Victoria we can't even have a tiny pocket knife on our key ring.
Even a 1 inch blade with a 1 inch handle is illegal.

That's not a knife, wait, yes it is, tell the kid who got stabbed in the back it was no worse than a butter knife only they probably don't bend or break when hitting a bone, does the metalwork teacher check on sharpness.

The rest of the kids will be bringing snooker balls in socks to school to even things up a bit.

"Ms Mitchell said the decision to carry the kirpan, an important one for many Sikhs, would be discussed on an individual basis and any student who did not comply with the guidelines would face disciplinary action."

Is it possible that a school employee may actually ask to see the kirpan?

Yeah, but you have to wear a turban, can't cut your hair, and you're not allowed to drink.

I don't think too many will be converting to Sikhism to have the luxury of carrying around an 8.5 cm blunt knife.

We used to do more damage with a compass. Hold one against a PE teacher's neck for a couple of minutes and you'll never have to run the oval again.

Take it from me, boys, it doesn't work if you get conscripted and sent to Kapuka.

Been there, done that.

You?

It's not compulsory to do any of those things in Sikhism so they can choose to carry a dagger or not in Australia, religious pandering at its best,, THAT'S NOT A KNIFE!, wait, what's that sticking out of that kids back.

"It is also part of a religious commandment given by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, in which he gave an option to the Sikhs, if they accepted they must wear the five articles of faith (the five Ks) at all times, the kirpan being one of five Ks".

Parramatta Marist High School 1954. "You got a light, buddy?"
Paul "Sure, there you go".
"And your wallet".
Linda  "He's got a knife".
Paul "That's not a knife".
"Neither is that".
"No. It's a crucifix".

Gurus with their commandments need to get with the times, what are they going to do, run around with hair clippers and measuring sticks to measure their shanks. The modern Sikh's have made their own rules on Sikhism and carrying a blade is their right in Australia.

That IS a knife!

"We have worked closely with community representatives, including from the Australian Sikh Association and the NSW Gurdwara Group, as well as Multicultural NSW and other government agencies, to develop these new guidelines."  The new guidelines mean:
The kirpan being carried must be no bigger than 8.5 centimetres, with no sharp edges or points."
--
"No" determiner. means   not any.
"Sharp" means:   (of an object) having an edge or point that is able to cut or pierce something.
What the government position is can be found by joining the two : "no sharp". Probably the concept relates to not having an ability to cut. A sharp edge can certainly cut, a not sharp edge is much less able to cut. It's not cutting.  The kirpan is un-sharp. It has not any sharpness. An un-cutting edge. You could even say it's an un-cutter.

Now we can move onto the word "points". Or you could look up the meaning for "points".

Do you know what the purpose of a kirpan (a shank) is, i will tell you, it's to kill and how come that kirpan pierced that kids back if it was not sharp or not even just a little bit sharp. That religious nutter kid was going for the kill, he also  stabbed the kid in the gut.

"New" means produced, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time; not existing before.
"Guidelines"  means a general rule, principle, or piece of advice.

There were old guidelines, followed by new guidelines. The old ones are not the new ones, which are new guidelines. Those guidelines are now "new". They are different from the old ones.  In exactly the same way, the old ones are different from the new ones. So we can combine our two words - new guidelines. Can you see what these words are saying?
