5 months doesn't seem like a lighter sentence for a first offence. Wink

Quote:
.........the average sentence given for offenses resolved by guilty plea was 54.7 months, while the average sentence for offenses resolved by trial was 153.7 months.[2] The practice of giving much harsher sentences when a defendant chooses to exercise the right to a trial by jury of his peers has been controversial, as is seen as a personal act of anger by the judge over "wasting court time."
The judge obviously took a liking to this defendant in this high profile proceeding. Wink

So what is the sentence for burning stolen property - a flag value $36 Amazon?

Or 2 large capacity magazines - $1000 fine or not exceeding 1 year imprisonment.

Nothing was entered as to being an habitual offender - so it seems likely a first offence. Not that light. Wink

In 2004, when he was 20 years old, Tarrio was convicted of theft. He was sentenced to community service and three years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution.

In 2013, Tarrio was sentenced to 30 months (of which he spent 16) in federal prison for rebranding and reselling stolen medical devices.

So the three strikes rules only applies to black people? What gives?

Plenty of black people doing life sentences for less.

How about for offences within the District of Columbia? Those offences were dealt with elsewhere and sentenced elsewhere. Wink

Ah - so he copped five months for firearms offences.... how much for burning a ... what?  A .... BLM flag?

WTF is that?

By what right did BLM earn a flag?

Propagandists Awake!   Even saying a person was sentenced to five months for burning a flag FIRST, when the reality is - he was convicted of destruction of property... what it was has no relevance here ... except to the propagandists and hate mongers... AND for possession of prohibited firearm components.

Seriously - some of you have no brains at all.

I suggest you read the story.

It's not a flag - it's a banner.

Moreover, whether it was a flag or a banner is completely irrelevant - it's the fact that it was someone else's property that saw him charged.

It could have been a handkerchief, a backpack, a book, a hat - it makes no difference.

He wasn't convicted on the basis of the particular type of object it was - he was convicted because it wasn't his to destroy.

And again, it was a banner not a flag.

The word 'flag' does not appear anywhere in the news article.

In fact, the headline clearly uses the word 'banner'.

So, the question has to be asked, why is everyone talking about a flag when:

a) it was never even mentioned in the article or thread title, and

b) it's completely irrelevant?

CNN Mocked For ‘Fiery But Mostly Peaceful Protests’ TV Chyron Shown In Front Of Kenosha Fire

By  Eric Quintanar
Aug 28, 2020

Social media users have been mocking CNN for its coverage of the violent unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in the aftermath of the shooting of Jacob Blake, particularly for the network’s insistence that the situation can still be described as “peaceful.”

During CNN’s coverage on Tuesday evening, the network described the situation in a news chyron as “fiery but mostly peaceful” while a large blaze burned in the background.
......

James Lindsay, co-author of the new anti-Leftist academia book “Cynical Theories,” posted a meme of the CNN reporter standing in front of the Titanic with the chyron:
“Ocean Liner’s First Voyage Mostly Successful.”

[LOL    see the graphic in the article. it will break you up!! Yadda]

It is very cruel, to mock the      POST TRUTH     MSM like this.

Please.

It must stop !!!
