Without going into too much detail, I was called to the court to be a witness to what I heard. There was no way that I could have seen who it was that I identified. The prosecution asked if I said what I said. I confirmed what I said. The defence asked me how I knew one of the people on the phone was the defendant. I told him that I knew his voice, the pacing of his voice and how he said things. Being that I had known the guy since primary school. That said, it was not a clear identification. I could not identify the other person, as I had never met him before. It was the police that caught the perpetrators.

And I would not want to give out information about the case, or risk identification by giving out a link.

they had THAT call because either the phone being used, or the one receiving the call,was being tapped.

There was a case here just a year or two ago where some someone was caught trying to organise to kill his spouse but was caught because he used a public phone that police already had tapped because it was known to be used by drug dealers in the area. If he has used another public phone the police would never have known

In this day and age I would see no reason why they wouldn't record all calls, , ? If you record one you'd record them all, Just be a matter how long you kept them

The assailants were caught by the police red-handed (perhaps literally for one of them) at the scene of the crime. The prosecutor asked if the main person on the phone was in the room. I identified the first person. His co-accused I could not identify as I had not seen or heard him before (and his voice was in the background indistinguishable). Somehow, the co-accused was found not guilty. The one I identified was found guilty.

That bloke had lousy legal representation unless it was established you have expert qualifications in phone voice recognition.

The police apprehended the suspects.

to what end? there is no motivation for any telecommunication company to record all calls. They want to encourage you to make more calls, not less.
