In this day and age I would see no reason why they wouldn't record all calls, , ? If you record one you'd record them all, Just be a matter how long you kept them

The main reason is that it is illegal to record a telephone conversation without either a warrant for intercepting the call or advising the participants it is recorded. Thats exactly why when you ring a call centre there is a message saying "this call will be recorded".
No charge for this information, I aim to educate.

While it is illegal to record telephone or private face-to-face conversations (where all parties are not aware), it's good advice to do it anyway. The crime is in the publishing of those recordings.

However, sometimes that which is illegally recorded is aced by the value of their public interest.

This applies no matter how you record the conversation, whether it’s by tapping their line, using an app to record calls made to or from your mobile phone, or using a separate call recorder device.

Be very careful of what you say when you are on the phone and are put on hold.

Irrespective of whether music is playing or not....everything you say is being recorded.

Your little whispered under the breath comments during that time may very well come back to haunt you later.

Typical examples : State and Fed Police, ATO, Banks, Insurance corporations, any large corporations really.

Further to my last post which was directed at you...

UnSub is apparently correct according to my hubby.

Some of his NSW client organisations rely on this interesting piece of legislation.

You'll find all states have similar legislative powers.

This legislation also exists at Federal level.

It's been around for 15 years.

I worked at a fast-food store that took phone orders. If we had a complaint, we were to get a supervisor to sort out the error. The procedure was to put the customer on hold. However, the system then would allow us to hear what they were saying whilst they were on hold -- just a bit more muffled. Oh, man, there were times when you got to hear the foul language of them talking to their partners about how bad things were with the work ethics of the business.
