Power of prayer
Oct 23rd, 2021 at 12:50pm

Does anyone here still believe in the power of prayer?

Am I the only person left on this seriously God forsaken website who still believes in praying for our families, friends and each other?

And why would the God of universal love desert this website? Because most of us ignore Matthew Ch 22: V 37 ?

Of course we must pray to God.

But whose prayers, does He hear ?

God says, that he will not hear the pleading of some people.

Why so ?

Is God an unrighteous God ?

No.

Is our God a cruel God ?

No.

It is all in the Bible.   ...aka, God's Word.

He begs us.....

Isaiah 55:6
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Why ?

Isaiah 65:13
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

Why ?

Isaiah 66:4
I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

Why ?

Jeremiah 6:17
Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Why ?

Jeremiah 6:19
Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

Why ?

Jeremiah 7:26
Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
27  Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

.

God's people.

Who are they ?

What will they enjoy ?

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 65:24
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Isaiah 66:5
Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

God isn't cruel, or, unjust.

He has told us, again, and again, that he will give us, according to our works.

What will Jesus do ?

Revelation 20:13
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And who was SATAN angry with ?

There is no SATAN ?

Really !       .....a lot of people alive today don't believe that he is [a real spirit].

Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Why,    ....does SATAN make war against them ?

It is all in God's Word.

.

Malachi 3:14
Ye have said, It is vain to serve God**: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?
15  And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.
16  Then they that feared the LORD*** spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18  Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

**
Who has said that ?

Anyone you know ?      Tongue

***
Who ?

I can't name one 'social media' platform....

Well, maybe i can name two.

Twitter.

FaceBook.

But there must be dozens of them.  !!!!

Right ????

So, so many people in the world today,
and they all want to be popular, on 'social media' platforms.

So, so much !!

And a majority of them would love, to have a huge global following.

To be popular, WITH EVERYONE.

Wouldn't they ?????                   Shocked

.....all of those 'precious', fragile, 'snowflake', lemmings.

That is what they are !

.

Me ?

I just want to be popular with God,   ....and Jesus.           Tongue

Both believers and atheists are self congratulatory egotists believing with absolute certainty they, and they alone, know ’the truth’ when the truth could be more than any human mind could ever contain.

"We have no symbolic life, and we are all badly in need of the symbolic life. Only the symbolic life can express the need of the soul; the daily need of the soul, mind you!  And because people have no such thing, they can never step out of this mill, this awful, banal grinding life in which they are "nothing but".

Everything is banal; everything is "nothing but," and that is the reason why people are neurotic. They are simply sick of the whole thing, sick of that banal life, and therefore they want sensation. They even want a war, they all want a war, they are all glad when there is a war, they say, "Thank heaven, now something is going to happen - something bigger than ourselves!"

These things go pretty deep, and no wonder people get neurotic. Life is too rational; there is no symbolic existence in which I am something else, in which I am fulfilling my role, my role as one of the actors in the divine drama of life."

C.G. Jung, CW 18, The Symbolic Life, Chapter III

There is no god OUTSIDE everything that IS, playing dice with what IS. So prayer is not speaking to a god outside ALL (which cannot possibly exist) but, rather, is a speaking INTO the world (in which god dwells, to speak poeto-mystically)
Is there value in speaking into the world? Of course there is. Is that prayer? Well, no. It's still good, though, if done well:

Spinoza writes:
“Whatever is, is in God, and nothing can exist or be conceived without God.”

Throughout his text, Spinoza was keen to undermine the idea of prayer. In prayer, an individual appeals to God to change the way the universe works. But Spinoza argues that this is entirely the wrong way around. The task of human beings is to try to understand how and why things are the way they are – and then accept it, rather than protest at the workings of existence by sending little messages up into the sky.

As Spinoza put it, beautifully but rather caustically:
“Whosoever loves God cannot strive that God should love him in return.”
In other words, only naive (but perhaps rather touching)  narcissism would lead someone at once to believe in a God who made the eternal laws of physics and then to imagine that this same God would take an interest in bending the rules of existence to improve his or her life in some way.
