Some men have concluded, that;
"This life is a search for meaning."
For myself, i recognise that the Jewish Tanakh and the Christian scriptures, are [human] documents which contain lots, and lots, of
affirmations.
Affirmations which help my psyche to grasp-hold-of, 'some' meaning, in this life.
affirmation = =
1. the act of affirming or the state of being affirmed; assertion.
2. something declared to be true; a positive statement or judgment.
3. a statement intended to provide encouragement, emotional support, or motivation, especially when used for the purpose of autosuggestion.
4. the assertion that the testimony one gives is true and equivalent to that which would be given while under oath.AND YET....Some [or many !] persons [in human culture
in this 'modern age'] do not care for many of those particular 'affirmations',
which can be found everywhere,
within the Jewish Tanakh and within Christian scriptures.
AND YET....But, along with many, many other persons alive today, i do.
How so ?
Because for me [and those other
individuals, i assume] those scriptures,
when we examine them,
present to us, 'an answer' to "our search for meaning",
as individuals.
.
Just a few, positive affirmations.Psalms 1:1
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

“Whosoever loves God cannot strive that God should love him in return.”
In other words, only naive (but perhaps rather touching) narcissism would lead someone at once to believe in a God who made the eternal laws of physics and then to imagine that this same God would take an interest in bending the rules of existence to improve his or her life in some way.
frank,
I'm one of those 'naive persons' [even a little narcissistic ? [smile] ], because
i see i recognise throughout scripture
that MY God declares that He,
does
love those who do love Him [i.e. love God's righteous character].
....even, as a parent, would love his child.
Leviticus 26:9
For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.
10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
11 And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.
12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.
2 Corinthians 6:17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
And many more scriptures.
