Seems it had nothing to do with the neighbours. The nappy thing was them putting two and two together after they caught him.

It wasn't a tip-off, it wasn't an accidental sighting, or pure chance.

Again, I'm not putting poo on the cops. They rescued her, and that's good no matter how you look at it. They deserve praise.

However, if this wasn't from a tip-off but instead the good detective work of 140 officers, why did they need to force down the door?

How come they didn't know he wasn't home?

Why didn't they just pick the lock and walk in calmly?

Or get the spare keys from the housing authority office?

What sort of solid, heavy-duty security door this this state government housing authority home actually have?

Again, full marks to the coppers - they got the girl, and that's all that matters, but I think they might be getting a little dramatic with the rescue description.

She was alone inside and old weatherboard state-housing home, and they walked in and retrieved her.

Greg, I don't know about Carnarvon but a couple of people I know here in Perth who live in Department of Communities (Housing Authority) places have told me the Department doesn't have spare keys which probably explains why they have door locks fitted that make it impossible to lock the keys inside (you have to lock the door with the key when you go out).

Dear God!

That's just standard protocol. You conduct a raid because you don't know who or what is behind a door or in a house.

The child was ok. Nothing else matters.

She may have been caged and starved or .... found dead.

I'm too busy being thankful. Police have protocols and a duty of confidentiality wrt how they conduct investigations. If you don't understand these protocols ...good. You don't need to understand them. Nor are you required to know what they are.

140 officers working on the case, and they didn't know she was in the house alone?

I wouldn't call that brilliant police work.

But, as I've said many times - the police still deserve high praise.

They returned the girl to her family, and that's all that matters.

For telling the truth?

140 officers working day and night on the case, and none of them could figure out that she was in the house alone.

Moreover, none of them knew how to pick the lock on an old weatherboard home.

That's cool - no spare keys then.

But seriously, how easy would it be to get inside an old weatherboard house in Carnarvon?

There wouldn't be any need to "force down the door".

Especially when you know she's in there on her own - the noise would scare her, and that's the last thing you'd want to do.

The only reason they'd need to "force down the door" is if they knew the abductor was inside and they had to act fast.

I'm finding it a little hard to believe that the 140 officers working around the clock couldn't figure out that she was in the house alone.

A lot not adding up.

But, the most important thing is she's safe and for that the coppers deserve high praise.
