We had 4 or 5 students in wheelchairs when I was in high school. It was all about equity. Nothing more than equal access for those that were impaired physically. We had the hearing impaired. Those with learning difficulties. Behaviour problems were around. Drugs were a problem early in the 1990s, but were clearing up when I attended high school. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Issues for those that a lesbian, gay, bi, intersex, transexual, etc., were such a low rate of consideration that teachers and students not concerned about it. I dare say that 25 years later, the media is just beating up an issue to sell more subscriptions. Are students even concerned about the topic?
