White man's burden...

Take up the White Man's burden—
Send forth the best ye breed—
Go bind your sons to exile
    To serve your captives' need;
To wait in heavy harness
    On fluttered folk and wild—
Your new-caught, sullen peoples,
    Half devil and half child.

Take up the White Man's burden—
    In patience to abide,
To veil the threat of terror
    And check the show of pride;
By open speech and simple,
    An hundred times made plain.
To seek another's profit,
    And work another's gain.

Take up the White Man's burden—
    The savage wars of peace—
Fill full the mouth of Famine
    And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
    The end for others sought,
Watch Sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hopes to nought.

Take up the White Man's burden—
    No tawdry rule of kings,
But toil of serf and sweeper—
    The tale of common things.
The ports ye shall not enter,
The roads ye shall not tread,
Go make them with your living,
And mark them with your dead!

Take up the White Man's burden—
    And reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better,
The hate of those ye guard—
The cry of hosts ye humour
    (Ah, slowly!) toward the light:—
"Why brought ye us from bondage,
    Our loved Egyptian night?"

Take up the White Man's burden—
Ye dare not stoop to less
Nor call too loud on Freedom
    To cloak your weariness;
By all ye cry or whisper,
By all ye leave or do,
The silent, sullen peoples
Shall weigh your Gods and you.

Take up the White Man's burden—
    Have done with childish days—
The lightly proffered laurel,
    The easy, ungrudged praise.
Comes now, to search your manhood
    Through all the thankless years,
Cold-edged with dear-bought wisdom,
    The judgment of your peers!

Can you IMAGINE Australia asking cannibals - PNG, Solomons, Fiji etc-  to assist with rioting by the ACTU?

Funny - I was thinking last night - re my post that the West needed to industrialise and make into trading partners other groups to now counter-balance the failed experiment with taking China into the League of Extraordinary Capitalism - about Pacific Islands and such....

Again - an easy, non-polluting source of energy is required.... along with local labour....

At least the Solomanis have the balls left to stack up against Chinese 'assertiveness' - read 'silent invasion'...... no such thing as a free dim sim lunch.... with fly lie and *beef shor' sou', OK?

*damn - every time I see that de-animalising term 'beef' I feel guilty over eating that steak.... but I love it... even I have my failings......... at least the kookas, maggies, currawongs and minahs I feed here know I'm not going to eat them.... compensatory behaviour ...... they don't wonder about the meat scraps I feed them or anything else.... behold, the birds of the field labour not with their consciences.....

The Solomon Islands is an insignificant country not worth Australia spending money on.

The current population of the Solomon Islands is 710,258 as of Tuesday, November 23, 2021 and the poverty rate in 2005 was 88.5%, and its probably even higher now.

Another future source of refugees for Australia.

Why?  & so what?

You're all for that sort of thing.

The problem in the Solomons is the Chinese.

The Malaitans have actually got this right .... their Prime Minister has sold them out into the Chinese debt trap.

Quote:
Prime Minister thanks 'best friend' Australia for help
Overnight, a contingent of 23 Australian Federal Police officers arrived in Honiara to bolster Solomon Islands' police force, following a request from Mr Sogavare for help.

More police, army officers and officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will follow today.

Mr Sogavare thanked Australia for being a "best friend" to the Solomon Islands.

"On behalf of the people of the Solomon Islands, I just want to thank the people and the government of Australia for coming to our aid."

If Australia is their "best friend" why is he selling out to the Chinese?

Chinese activity in the Solomons, PNG, Fiji & other Pacific Island nations has been a bone of contention & worry to the Australian govt for some time.

They are not to be trusted.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Thursday afternoon that 23 Australian Federal Police officers and 43 Australian Defence Force personnel will be deployed to Solomon Islands to assist with "riot control".

Mr Morrison and Foreign Minister Marise Payne emphasised that Australia was not becoming involved in the internal affairs of Solomon Islands, but rather helping to restore stability.

In 1941-45 the Japanese failed to disconnect AustNewz from America - the Chinese have obviously read their history books.

No; but the Mogul empire, who had built eg the Taj Mahal in India in c.1630, were not cannibals; and  when Clive beat the remnants of this empire at Plassey in 1757, the battle might have gone either way. (Apparently Clive covered his cannon with tarpaulins during  a rainstorm, while the Indians failed to do so.....).

Hence the beginning of British rule in India. Kipling ignores the fact that the Taj Mahal  displays the same technological mastery as St Pauls in London built 40 years later than the Taj.

"your new-caught, sullen peoples",.....not applicable to the Moguls.

"And check the show of pride";....I hope Kipling didn't look in the  mirror.....

"Watch Sloth and heathen Folly"  but don't look at the workhouses in London and floating prisons on the Thames.....

"The blame of those ye better,
The hate of those ye guard—",

yeh, right, like the East India Company arbitrarily imposing taxes on the locals and offending local customs.

"White man's burden".......acquired  by his own greed.

The USA, via their CIA, funded and empowered many Dictators around the world from Saddam to Pinochet and more - all to keep their nations weak, for the benefit of USA national security BS.

If Australia had sold Grain Corp to the USA - after 3 years of flowers, they would have scuttled Grain Corp and weakened Australia on the global market, empowering their own. Our PM's would have turned a blind eye. They're USA dictators too - Gillard couldn't wait to get her applause in the USA for doing their dirty work and calling all Australian men as mysoginists, etc. PM's are sell-outs.

Chances are that the Solomon's are kept weak as a nation by their Political leaders on behalf of Australia. I mean, Paul Keating sought Real Estate benefits in Vanuatu thanks to the local Pollies on the PK payroll. Locals who 'owned' the lands, were not happy.

Poor Solomon's - being pulled apart and abused by the Politics of other nations.
