Federal ICAC
Nov 28th, 2021 at 3:09pm

Why does Morrison keep excusing the lack of a Bill presented in Parliament to debate and vote on the basis that Labor opposes it.

Is he not the Govt?  Does he not have the numbers in the HoR to get his Bill passed there?

WTF?

He's trying to blame Labor for the total lack of action on this legislation. It won't work for the reasons you described.

In reality, the government is dragging its feet on this legislation because their bill has no retrospective powers and they want to keep looting the Treasury for as long as possible. That won't work either - the other proposed legislation will have retrospective powers.

As Scomo was climbing up the stair,
He met an ICAC that wasn't there.
It wasn't there again today,
He wished to hell it would go away.

An interesting irony that a government can go full pelt on 'trolls' (whatever they really mean by that), yet resist the establishment of a permanent commission of inquiry to prevent political corruption.

They would need 100 times as many people on the books to do that.

I'd bet psychologists would have something to say about a group's deflection of that group's fear of possible exposure to questions about potentially corrupt behaviour from a commission it can't control, towards fury at bad behaviour online of individuals it can.

Both or neither... Not either/or.

They need to spend time working in their electorate, but if you try to contact them, you'll get a flunkey or the brush-off...... a nice letter explaining to you why they can't do what you want... don't call us..

... and they need time to consolidate and rationalise the business ventures they've set up during their time in office.... you can't run a business empire while sitting in Parliament for your pay and without having lots of free time time on your hands, you know...  it takes a lot of work to sort out your next profiteering venture... most likely in some area your government is about to throw billions of taxpayer fool's dollars so you're guaranteed of a profit....
