If you pull a gun,knife, basball bat on someone to rob them it's armed robbery even if no shots are fired nobody is stabbed or bashed.

If you point a gun at someone who breaks into your home and they run away without a shot being fired that is defensive gun use.

Cockwomble can't explain why Americans will never ever accept any gun policy similar to Australia's gun policy. He doesn't seem to understand that American' Law would never permit it, unless American's are willing to make a drastic change to our US Constitution.

If Americans wanted to alter our American Right to Keep & Bear Arms, then why hasn't anyone seriously proposed or mounted a charge to amend the US Constitution to do so .... the only way such a change can be legally made?

If Cockwomble, as you chose to call him, were in anyway honest he would have to logically conclude that Americans don't want to change their Rights.....especially their Right to Keep & Bear Arms. They don't want the US Government, or any other governmental entity for that matter, to 'infringe' upon their Rights.....their Right to Keep & Bear Arms to be used for self-defense, & any other lawful purpose.

Americans, all Americans....not just gun owners....all Americans know that their Freedom & Liberties come at a price, & for way over 250 years, Americans have been willing to pay that price to safeguard their Freedom & Liberties! A few deaths every year, though dear & sometimes heart wrenching, is that price they have been always willing to endure, & will continue to endure.

<sarcasm>Nice quote there by James Madison </sarcasm>. A member of the Revolutionary War, where he was fighting for his country's independence with muskets. Not like those easy to purchase assault rifles or Glock pistols that seem commonplace among American shooters who go on attacks. Madison died in 1836. He was not around for the latter part of the 20th and the early 21st century when drug dealers would shoot each other in the streets over territorial disputes, etc.

Assault Rifles, as you errant call the AR-15, are rarely used in gun homicide (much less than 3% of all gun related homicides), & if you looked into the FBI & CDC Data you will find that that is absolutely true.

You forget that this reason equally justifies not having those other laws too. having laws against rape etc does not eliminate rape assault theft or murder either ?

Your argument is justification to say that no laws work so why have them.

The fact remains that reasonable gun laws would save a lot of lives.

100 people shot dead every day is not acceptable and it could be drastically improved with a little common sense.

The second amendment was never intended to support insanity in the manner it is currently misused.

The second amendment as written did not mean what it has been perverted to mean today.

Then you convince the 99+% of law-abiding gun owners, who don't use their firearms criminally, that because of the criminals within our American Society, who illegally use their illegal firearms, that they, the law-abiding owners, must give up their Right to their Constitutionally protected firearms, & become victims to that underbelly segment of society, because you....in a little far off foreign land.....says so. I'm sure they will most all tell you where you can shove your gun control deep into!!!

It's OUR LAW, & OUR RIGHT....not yours.....& as American Citizens we do & will live according to OUR AMERICAN LAW.....the Constitution of the United States of America, the Supreme Law of OUR Land, by which all American laws must conform. We Americans wouldn't have it any other way, we've lived by those laws for over 230+ years, & will for 200+ years to come. No power on earth, except our own, will decide that.....
