No.  Are you?  I was always critical of the Taliban.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Everyone I know, including me, is critical of the Taliban.

They're draconian animals.

The only people I've ever heard support them are members of the Republican Party (birds of a feather, I guess).

The support for the Taliban started with Democrats under Jimmy Carter.

The Islamic revolution in Iran started when Carter was POTUS.

The Islamic state in Syria and Iraq started under Obama.

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

99% of Afghans surveyed wanted Sharia as the Official Law of the Land.

Nothing unIslamic with the Taliban

Do I really have to warn people to be kind to one another, Gregory?  Behave or I might have to lock this thread.  Behave and follow the rules, understand?

A lot of things happened in Afghanistan after the Northern Alliance drove the Taliban out of Kabul. I have never defended the ill-advised occupation by Allied troops, but the bottom line: why the Taliban were able sit out the occupation, was because the Afghan National Army, no matter how well equipped, would not stand up and fight for themselves, let alone their women. This is the reason the Allies withdrew, it became abundantly clear, the ANA were cowards, but it is politically incorrect to say such a thing in the media. If anyone is going to bring freedom and civilisation to Afghanistan, it will be the women, and that is why the Taliban (Afghan men) want to stop the education of women.

That doesn't seem the impression that I get from the article, Belgarion.  Have you actually read it? Roll Eyes

Indeed I have Brian. This bit of the article stands out:

"President Joe Biden proudly announced that while the West would no longer be on the ground, it would "maintain the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan".
That promise appears broken, with the country still under constant terror attacks."

It would seem that the ABC is placing the blame on the US when in fact the US and its allies suffered a resounding defeat in Afghanistan and have no influence over the current situation.
