The region we call Afghanistan has for thousands of years been torn by conflict between competing  tribes and warlords.  Nothing new here, but note the way the ABC is trying to make this latest round the US's fault.  Roll Eyes

That doesn't seem the impression that I get from the article, Belgarion.  Have you actually read it? Roll Eyes

Indeed I have Brian. This bit of the article stands out:

"President Joe Biden proudly announced that while the West would no longer be on the ground, it would "maintain the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan".
That promise appears broken, with the country still under constant terror attacks."

It would seem that the ABC is placing the blame on the US when in fact the US and its allies suffered a resounding defeat in Afghanistan and have no influence over the current situation.

You make a promise and you fail to keep it, whose fault is it, Belgarion?  That is one brief mention versus quite a lot of information about who is doing what in Afghanistan.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Did anyone really think the Taliban would act any different?  Having seen off the latest group of foreigners who thought they could change Afghanistan, it's back to business as usual.  Roll Eyes

It's time for a full-on process of shaming in the UNGA, to speed up the Islamic "enlightenment".

Only problem is: some literalists (like Pell) -  adherents to other creeds - would be wary of scripture being exposed for the idiocies and anachronisms it contains.
