Not sure if anyone remembers this from South Australia in early November?

Mock Funeral Held In CBD As Hospitality Sector Mourn Grave Losses

Quote:
Hundreds of workers across Adelaide's hospitality and live entertainment sector, staged a mock funeral march “in loving memory of a vibrant sector” on Monday protesting for the easing of Covid restrictions.

See the two at the front carrying the coffin?

Now, fast forward a couple of months to this week after they got their 'wish' and everything reopened on November 23rd and Covid started spreading, people started getting sick and had to isolate and many more are now just staying home for fear of catching it.

Marshall blasted over ‘tills are still ringing’ comments (Subscriber only article but the story is obvious).

Quote:
Still reeling by tough restrictions, the hospitality sector is now furious with the Premier over comments made at a press conference.

There they are again holding empty tills this time (and also not wearing masks like they were supposed to do).

They're still not happy even after they got their 'wish' and everything reopened. But, they just had to be greedy and they also wanted the tourist dollars instead of just having a normal Christmas and New Years trade (if SA had remained Covid free) which probably would have been quite sufficient but now they've been bitten in the @ss. Serves them right.

I have great concerns about this.   Right now, the majority of infected are in their 20s and 30s.  But soon, they will go home to their parents - who would be in their 50s and 60s infect them, who then be visiting their grandparents in their 70s and 80s.   In this regard, the hospitalization trend may be delayed for 3 to 4 weeks.  End of January, will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Hmm... what's bad is if these incidental covid patients infect non-covid patients in the hospital.  Or staff.

Doesn't look good.

NSW hospitals bracing for tripling of Covid patients

Quote:
New South Wales hospitals are preparing for Covid-related admissions to triple as cases soar, forcing further cuts or delays in care that could have long-lasting health effects, doctors and medical experts say.

Australia posted another record of more than 72,000 Covid cases on Thursday, including almost 35,000 in NSW. But restrictions on access to testing and patchy reporting means the true figure is likely to be far higher than the reported tallies.

“Given the proportion of people testing positive, I mean, probably you can double it,” a senior NSW health official said. In NSW, about one-third of tests are returned positive.

I'm sure Victoria and the rest of the States won't be too far behind, as well.

The tragedy here is that all of this was so predictable (and avoidable).
