Obesity and Covid

We've known for 18 months that the obese have very poor covid outcomes.

Pseudo-science. Based on your own prejudices.
It is far more complicated than that.

Now that CNN is FINALLY reporting this, I guess it means it's allowed to be discussed in the left wing think silos.

People who are overweight or obese are at a much higher risk of much more severe disease and even death from Covid-19, and one new study suggests that losing weight can reduce that risk

I rarely look at Fox News, but this link came up on top of when I searched for the CNN article. Nails it Smiley

Critics rip CNN over late tweet linking obesity to serious COVID cases, death: 'Where have you been?'

Despite citing a "new study," the article also referenced studies from August 2020, February 2021 and April 2021 that reported hospitalizations from the coronavirus were "robustly linked to cardiometabolic health" and the body-mass index.

Critics quickly took to social media to slam CNN, with some questioning why it took so long for the liberal network to acknowledge the data that was already widely known.

"A truly shocking development," one critic jokingly wrote, while another thanked the network for finally "catching up."

Masks do about 3/4 of bugger all, particularly with the Omi.

If 18 months ago, all the energy put into masks, lockdowns etc was put into getting fatties to run around the block, death rates would be lower.

Another subject that's probably too volatile for American LW media is why blacks are dying at a disproportionate rate.

Blacks in the USA have the highest obesity rates of all ethnic groups.

True. After a certain age, most every American Black is either diabetic, overweight, have high blood pressure, etc. Of course, they don't have the access to healthcare that Whites do ...

It is hardly a surprise that comorbidities greatly increase the likelihood of death from yet another contracted systemic disease.

Why?

Genes definitely play a role. So does the environment in which people live, socioeconomic status -- and, yes, racism, says Clyde W. Yancy, MD, associate dean of clinical affairs and medical director for heart failure/transplantation at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

I wonder why Mothra thinks this study from Stanford University is pseudo-science?
Are Sanford whores?

Yes by about 10% of the vaccine's effectiveness and does not take 15 months to achieve.

A good idea for anyone overweight to do something about it however its not an effective strategy for covid in the short term.

"Evolutionary blowtorch", innit. It took out the hommers during the AIDS pandemic, now it's taking out the chodes, those with dicks wider than long.

Nothing to worry about, it happens all the time.
