Racism on Display
Jan 15th, 2022 at 6:21pm

WA Premier Mark McGowan's paternalistic and condescending speech to Aboriginals regarding vaccination is a perfect example of woke racism. https://www.rebelnews.com/wa_premier_deploys_indigenous_aide_to_translate_englis...  The use of an 'interpreter' is just icing on the cake.  The infantilisation of Aborginals as evidenced in this speech displays all the racism of low expectations common among the SJWs. Maybe rebel news reporters should do some fact checking before knocking up that twaddle about racism.

Yeah, I'm talking to you, Avi Yemini. Ever been to remote Australia? I doubt it.

This has already been discussed here, but, in summary:

Given that English is generally not Ngaanyatjarra people’s first language

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/commentary/they-havent-the-remotest-idea/news-s...

Go out to remote Australian communities, like Warakurna and the surrounding communities, and you'll hear an  English kriol and Anglicised names and descriptions taken directly from their language exactly as you heard the old woman using in that video.

It’s hard to believe that so many Australians are ignorant of the multiple indigenous languages still spoken today as a first language in remote Australia with a kriol used as a lingua franca in remote communities.

There is absolutely no doubt that McGowan sought advice from aboriginal elders about reaching out to remote communities to advise and warn them of the risks of this disease to be spoken in a vernacular the community would instantly recognise and trust.

Another thing that would be good for many to know: Aboriginals from remote communities are very wary of being shamed (dishonoured) by mainstream Australians, and by the tone of Rebel News, posts here and on twitter confirm they're right to be wary.

You are a sad apologist for these racists. Had you watched McGowan's lecture you would have seen that the interpreter was not speaking anything other than English with a very few native words thrown in. If someone could understand that then they could understand McGowan.   In any case the entire tone of his speech was patronsing and condescending even without the 'interpreter'.  Roll Eyes

Aboriginalism is more about 'Land',
than it is about 'language'... otherwise they would be a Political people, not a Land orientated people.

Aboriginal languages also use sign without vocalisations.

Many other people's do too. Like the cliche 'Italian'.
That's why they are more 'action' than 'talk' and not designed for Politics.

Aboriginals who chase the Political empowerment are chasing a weakness, although the Aboriginal women seem more 'alpha' when dealing with Politics, than the men.

Aboriginals who stick to the 'Land' - like Rangers, Farmers, Environmentalists, etc... are the ones that get ahead.

no they don't you fool. Italians use their hands to put further emphasis on their spoken word.  It's no more a substitute for the spoken work then giving someone the finger is a substitute in English

Anyone who watched 'Rabbit Proof Fence' might have noticed in one scene how the elder girl communicated by sign to an Aboriginal man at a distance.

The OP to this thread should read as a cautionary tale about the insidiousness of racism and how unintentionally patronising (through ignorance) presumptions can be.

By calling out the use of simplified English or a kriol as the infantilisation of Aboriginals is, in fact, calling all genuine speakers of that form of English, infants.

Those who speak that form of English don't consider themselves infants and don't speak mainstream Australian English.

It is an example of deciding for Aboriginal people that a lingua franca they have probably used since their first encounter with Europeans is for babies. So, racial judgment (however unintended)?

It also calls out the pissfart media. No fact checking. Just make it up as they go along.

Yes, but anyone 'standing' for Politics has a right to consider themselves superior to any other people's not pertaining to Politics - which has 'talking' as its tool of the trade.

Anyone in Politics will consider themselves superior (in language/talking) to others who live in Military, Sporting, Medical, Artistic, Scientific, Land/Ocean farming, etc, etc - worlds.

Australian Music Band Hoodoo-Gurus - learned to speak Japanese from 'female' translators. They went on to talk like poofters everywhere.  Cheesy
