Ocean heat at record high in 2021 despite La Nina
Jan 17th, 2022 at 8:35am

Quote:
Abstract
The increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere from human activities traps heat within the climate system and increases ocean heat content (OHC). Here, we provide the first analysis of recent OHC changes through 2021 from two international groups. The world ocean, in 2021, was the hottest ever recorded by humans, and the 2021 annual OHC value is even higher than last year’s record value by 14 ± 11 ZJ (1 zetta J = 1021 J) using the IAP/CAS dataset and by 16 ± 10 ZJ using NCEI/NOAA dataset. The long-term ocean warming is larger in the Atlantic and Southern Oceans than in other regions and is mainly attributed, via climate model simulations, to an increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations. The year-to-year variation of OHC is primarily tied to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). In the seven maritime domains of the Indian, Tropical Atlantic, North Atlantic, Northwest Pacific, North Pacific, Southern oceans, and the Mediterranean Sea, robust warming is observed but with distinct inter-annual to decadal variability. Four out of seven domains showed record-high heat content in 2021. The anomalous global and regional ocean warming established in this study should be incorporated into climate risk assessments, adaptation, and mitigation.

La Nina is associated with cooling but that is because the oceans emit less heat into the atmosphere.

I won’t stop laughing at your idiocy. EviDENSE of global warming, eviDENSE of global cooling and all you have is WEATHER REPORTS! No science, no climate data—just pointless weather reports. THAT is what i would post in your wreck of an MRB you clown! It was never about abuse that you banned me, it was me laughing at your kindergarten efforts to “prove” we are heading for an ice age.

So how many zettajoules to 1C for the top 2km of ocean?

About 2600 zettajoules. That would make this "alarming" Ocean temperature for the top 2Km about 5 one thousandth of a degree plus or minus 4 one thousandth of a degree.

Oh and "Jovial Monk wrote on Jan 17th, 2022 at 8:35am:

"

Models tell us. And they have to there were no comprehensive ocean data back in 1960. Grin Grin Grin

But interestingly the XBT's and Argo record in C not zettajoules; but those large number sure seem scary.

Error bars? What error bars?

"LMS quotes the accuracy of XBTs to be 5 m or 2% of depth (whichever is greater) and ±0.2°C in temperature; this value is slightly larger than other reports on XBT accuracy. However, numerous studies on the accuracy of XBT data revealed systematic errors that exceeded the manufacturer-specified limits."

https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/rog.20022

So we have error bars of +/-0.2C (200/1000C and) measurement far smaller. Really too funny. Grin Grin Grin Grin

Do these "alledged" experts realise that the earth has been flooded several times with evidence of sea creatures living even in the blue mountains, deserts, and many other mountainous areas.

Why?
I have asked this question many times
And they obfuscated, murmured something about me being an idiot and said whats happening now is completely different.

How different?
Do they really know why the earth has heated and cooled so many times in the past?
How can they be so sure that its us who is the problem?

Its all a con, and someone is making a lot of money out of it.

Buy that book on geology.

What is different about the warming now is that:

1. The 20th century solar maximum ended 1980—yet we warm.

2. The Milankovitch Cycles has been turning down for thousands of years. This normally means the area north of 65°N cools, precipitating major ice ages. Yet the Arctic is the fastest warming region of the globe.

Wow. Just two factors affect climate? Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Sun spots are not geology.

Milankovitch Cycles are not geology.

Edit: you sure do love Marcott. He of the "not robust" about the latest warming. Wink
