Yes, it is of course pure guesswork. I used the same opening word every time, so I suppose it was on the cards to come up sometime.

I have now changed my starting word to see if will get it in one again sometime in the future.

p.s.

Spelling Bee is OK ... but as a fan of 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown, I find it to be reasonably easy.

Oh wow! I'm impressed!

You use the same starting word each day. And that's what I do too. (Note : this morning I was trying out a different approach as a 1 off).

Combinations / permutations / probability ... it's all just maths really. Absolutely beautiful and perfectly so.

Ok today I tried Red's starting word.

It took me a minute and 3 turns to solve.

I'll post up my results later on after everyone has had a go.

Manually though (I'm on an IPhone so that's all I can post up) my results will appear as follows :

Turn 1. Incorrect|Correct but in the wrong place|Incorrect|Incorrect|Incorrect

Turn 2. Incorrect|Correct but in the wrong place|Correct but in the wrong place|Incorrect|Incorrect

Turn 3. Correct|Correct|Correct|Correct|Correct

Hint : What helped me btwn Turn 2 & Turn 3 was the remaining available consonants.
