To Trump Putin's recognition of east Ukraine as separate republics would appear to be genius. To the military and real politicians, it was a well-known strategy to recognise ethnic Russians identity already living in east Ukraine and to change the dynamic from invasion to protection.

I reckon Putin will be dead within 12 months Smiley

Apparently, this war isn't so popular at home, and Russian like their creature comforts these days and don't want to go back to toilet paper with splinters.

Don't know if he'll be dead; he's not a communist but he is a dyed-in-the-wool cold-war era military operative.

He may have miscalculated Russian appetite for war. Given he's shut down the free media, he'd have no way of knowing how popular or unpopular a war would be.

Here's Gordon, no Trump-supporter, jumping in to defend Dear Leader.

So unfair, no?

Imagine if Putin invaded under Trump's watch.

The left wing media would have literally blamed him.

So, so unfair.

They'll never mention covid after he's gone, no?

Oh, I don't know. I think you'll find plenty of people quite happy to overlook Mr Trump's support of Putin.

He's only defending the first invasion of a sovereign European country since WWII, it's okay.

Boys will be boys, no?

Trump says Putin's defending the Ukraine's "independence". You know, Putin plans to make peace and pull out, happy to let the Ukraine do their own thing.

Independence is a good thing, right? What's wrong with that?

The leftards totally misunderstand Putin, you know. Just like Mr Trump.

So unfair.

putin recognises a basic truth.

the west is soft.

their leaders are spineless and weak

their peoples seek only safety and pleasure

putin  also recognises that , in leadership, you should always be at the "action" , not the 'reaction".

the west is ruled (if you want to use that term) by people who "react" but dont "act'.

putin bounces out of bed with "a plan"

the west bounces out of bed with "no plan".

thats a non fruitful mode of being.

trump labelling putin a genius is just trumps gut instinct about what 'works" in the real world and what doesnt.

trump is often wrong , but he is usually wrong in an interesting way and in this case, putin is displaying for all the world to see, the absolute impotence of the west.

what are they going to do.
nothing.

they are going to cower and tell each other to stay safe.
the west couldnt even confront a mild respiratory virus.
the idea that they would take on a world leader who is a stunning example of ruthless masculinity is zero.

dr jill should give Joseph a valium to help settle him, maybe get him a therapy dog.
maybe he could send his director of environmental waste to negotiate with putin.

they could hop in the ring and battle it out

Just so. The "noble Vlad" just bounced out of bed with a plan to carpetbomb a major European city, killing thousands. He then plans to occupy and control a sovereign country, free and independent since 1991.

44 million Ukrainians have plans too. Do you back Vlad's plans over theirs?

A simple yes or no will suffice.

Obviously Trump does not discern the difference between praising the way an act of aggression was carried out, and the fact that it should not have been carried out in the first place.

Either that or he is being mis-reported and his words twisted..... just because you respect the way the little bastards do their job doesn't mean you shouldn't take them out.

Vlad the Inhaler?  What IS he smoking?

Of course your money is on Vlad - he has the numbers and the tanks and the aircraft.... so might makes right?

Jim Molan tonight said something prescient - what we lose now will take a huge effort to get back later... same happened with Hitler, Mussolini and the Japanese pre WW II..... whenever we stand back and allow nations to invade other nations because the other nations are weak, we are creating a rod for our own backs, since once they succeed in one place, they will go on to the next.

Go - tell the Spartans.....

Or bouncing out of bed and accidentally crushing 44 million people with his awesome plan.

Does anyone have a copy of 1984 handy?
