See if you can figure this out.
There's a reason why it DIDN'T happen under Trump, and that reason is not a compliment to Trump.
There is also a reason why it DID happen under Biden, and that reason is not complimentary to Biden.
War tends to make heroes out of US presidents and galvanises the country around the president.
Trump gave the impression of an American receding interest in NATO and Putin has taken a punt on that being true under a US president he presumed would not act.
Trump set the conditions for Putin's impression that the US would not have the resolve to resist his move into Ukraine.
Putin has been proved wrong.
Lincoln had the same problem as the south saw him as weak and dithering.
The south was proved wrong.
Notwithstanding the possibility that Trump and Putin had an arrangement that he would go in for Trump's political benefit. If true, this has proved to be a mistake.
Half correct. Putin wouldn't have invaded under Trump because he's a loose cannon and probably would have become involved militarily just to play strong man.
Putin saw the disastrous Afghanistan exit and used that as a measure of Biden, combined with Bidens weak signaling about sanctions, maybe, if it was jst a small incursion.
It's actually OK to hate Trump with every fibre of your being AND think Biden is a disaster. That's called walking and chewing gum.
And Trump actually deserves some credit for telling the EU to pull their financial weight funding NATO.
