Evidently, Putin is an avid student of history and knows the USA has previously invaded Russia and post WW2 had plans with the UK to attack Russia with nuclear weapons.

Post WW2, the UK, USA, and their allies formulated a plan called 'Operation Unthinkable' to attack Russia which had been an ally during WW2.
