IF I then start announcing to everyone that I identify as a 21 year old Scandinavian guy with snowy blonde dead straight hair, pale skin and with blue eyes...chances are I'll be taken to a psychiatrist for an immediate assessment.

My point is this : it matters not what you decide to identify as...some things are assigned at birth and they just can't be changed. You may try to by interfering with nature through hair colour and tinted lens and taking hormones but once these artificial mechanisms are left to nature ... you will find that who you are was assigned at birth. Forget changing it. There is a lot of struggle and money etc...just learn to love and accept and embrace the natural you. It matters not if we are born male OR female as there are advantages and disadvantages with both genders. What matters more is that we are HUMAN BEINGS.

Your SEX was defined at birth. Your GENDER is not.

Gender is not sex. Gender is, and always has been, separate but related.

It is NOT 'the same thing', and is NOT set in stone.

Thing is, Kat, trans-gender claimants are the rare exception, and thus should not be dictating the discussion in every way. As I've said over and over, most people wouldn't even think about it if this eternal fuss wasn't raised by the media every day to startle the snakes in the bushes.

I disagree. We should lay out the ground work for transgenders to be legally recognised as the sex that they choose to transition to.

Human are influenced by our mind, and also hormones. If a person - after being assessed professionally to be of opposite sex, and have undergone or undergoing medical procedures, and under hormonal treatment, then in essence he or she is the transitioned sex.

At the moment, our science is still limited, therefore on the surface, alot of transitions seemed incomplete. However, I believe with advancement in technology: e.g. gene therapy, tissue healing therapy, hormonal therapy, we are very close to be able to turn people from one sex to another effectively 100%.

With an advance in technology you can transition into an actual rose. Possibly 1000s years away? Should we lay down the legal work for that?

Actual sex changes are not going to happen for many generations.
