I guess he meant to say that solar panels on the roof of the house save the householder electricity costs in charging an electric vehicle. The car is on the charger during the night, but also when you are not using it during the day.

Well, most people drive their cars to work in the day so they'd need a pretty long extension cord to charge it from their rooftop panels. I guess if you're getting feed in then suck it back out at night? Or maybe he was thinking about a $15K powerwall?

Either way, if he's doing Biden level gaffs now, gawd help us if he's PM

My parents installed rooftop solar panels to help cut their electricity bills. So, I do not know how it works. I am guessing that when you get up in the morning and go to work, you have had 2 or 3 hours of daylight charging the panels and holding off the power from the grid. It was a bit of a learning curve to find out a blackout to the power grid did not mean that solar panels would take over producing the power needed in a home.

My car stays under the house for most of the day. I would be drawing recharging power from the solar panels for most of my car's recharge. At night, I suppose Albanese would mean stored energy to do the night time recharge.

I said to Dad, if Morrison was still PM for the time of the election, I would consider voting ALP. But this sort of thing would make me wonder who gets my vote.

What about all the lower income unit dwellers who can't take advantage of solar panels?

Let them eat cake

Do you really expect politicians to explain every detail in every 15-second sound bite?
