Still -
65 deaths in one day is far too many.

The flu season is upon us:

Surge in flu cases predicted amid low Australian flu vaccination rate

By Serena Seyfort
9:59am May 17, 2022

Australia's health system is bracing for a surge in flu cases in winter, with more than 10,000 cases already reported this year and low flu vaccination rates across the country.
Only 15 per cent of Aussies have had this year's flu vaccine since it became available in April, compared to the 49 per cent of the population who had received the jab by this time last year.
Meanwhile, up until May 8, almost 11,000 cases of flu had been recorded in Australia, compared to the just 240 cases that had been recorded at this time in 2021.

Dr McMullen has warned flu can be deadly,

advising people to take precautions, just as they did to combat COVID-19.

"Influenza can be a life-threatening illness in kids, pregnant women, older people - anyone really - so it is just important that all Australians should be vaccinated," she said.

"Wear a mask, wash your hands, keep a distance again, again, again."
The flu vaccine is available free for over 65s, children under five, pregnant women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those with certain medical conditions.
For all other Australians, it's available for less that $25 at GPs and pharmacies.

‘Flurona’ is circulating around Australia.
But what is it - and how can you tell the difference between COVID and the flu?

A leading doctor is urging Australians to be vigilant for so-called “flurona” infections - as she dispels some common misconceptions.

Flurona made headlines earlier this month when a Victorian woman died after being diagnosed with both COVID and the flu.

Watch more on this story in the video above

Experts say there’s a heightened possibility people could be infected simultaneously as we enter the winter months.

Dr Nirvana Luckraj, the Chief Medical Officer at national public health information service Healthdirect, told 7NEWS.com.au flurona was commonly misconceived as a new virus.

In reality, she said, it’s a “non-medical term” that means someone has flu and COVID at the same time.

“With COVID continuing to circulate in the community and cases still high in some states, combined with the predicted flu season we are expecting now that restrictions have eased, it’s quite possible that a person could have flu and COVID at the same time,” she said.

“It’s something we want to prevent as these are both potentially severe illnesses and combined would be particularly serious.”

Vaccination is the key to avoiding serious illness, she said.

But don’t expect your COVID jabs to have any impact on the flu.

“The flu vaccine is specifically designed for flu virus and COVID vaccines for COVID – they don’t protect against each other so it’s important to get both vaccines for best prevention this winter.

“Vaccines are one of the most important
and simple measures we can take to keep ourselves, our families and communities healthy.”

Great STUFF, eh ?

A return of seasonal influenza - after being virtually
non-existent for the last two years

MORE COVID19 deaths in the first four months of this year
than the combined total of the two years, prior

But it's WORTH it - to be rid of those pesky masks
and social distancing NONSENSE !

Another 36 deaths reported today already just from NSW and Victoria.

https://covidlive.com.au/

But, the pollies still insist there's nothing to worry about.

And, as I said the other day... we also had to open up the borders otherwise a certain airline CEO might not have been able to buy his 19 million dollar property. (the 4.5 million dollar property he's been living in wasn't good enough, apparently).

We've all been 'conditioned' over the years to accept up to 1,000 flu deaths a year for the sake of business and travel now we're slowly being 'conditioned' to accept up to 15,000 or more Covid deaths a year.

Disgraceful. People should be in prison for this disaster.

These are the 4 deadly strains that the flu vax will protect you from:

https://www.mylan.ca/-/media/mylanca/documents/english/product-pdf/influvac-tetr...

For the 2021/2022 season, each dose of INFLUVAC® TETRA contains neuraminidase and 15mcg of
haemagglutinin of the following virus strains:

• an A/Victoria/2570/2019 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;

• an A/Cambodia/e0826360/2020 (H3N2)-like virus;

• a B/Washington/02/2019 (B/Victoria lineage)-like virus; and

• a B/Phuket/3073/2013 (B/Yamagata lineage)-like virus.

I had the flu over 20 years ago and I was crook for 6 weeks -
I nearly died.
Since then I have had the flu vax every year except the last 2 years.
There was no flu around for the last 2 years but it's back now
so I got my shot.
The H1N1 strain is a leftover of the 1918 Spanish flu -
it's still around and it's deadly.
The longest I ever got sick was just a few days in the last 20 years.

37 deaths now after Tasmania 'reported in'.

https://covidlive.com.au/

Other States 'still to come'.

A personal observation here:

After decades of watching science fiction movies which showed a grim future where greedy, evil corporations and individuals ruled the world, governments were just their 'puppets' and the populations had the illusion of freedom and thinking to myself "Phew, it's a good thing that can't happen in real life" it's taken a global pandemic to make me (and many others, I'm sure) realize that not only could it happen but it actually has happened.

And hardly anyone realized what was happening.

15,000+ cases in CQ. 22 deaths. That is a death of 14 out of every 10,000 cases of covid19. And considering that the average age of people around here would be higher than what you would find in the city, I would say that we have done quite well in handling the pandemic. That is even though we in CQ were required to wear masks in public for about a month of the two years of the pandemic.

absolute crap

eating a super healthy diet
exercising daily
sleeping 7 hours a night
have a partner who you vibe with
bouncing out of bed with a plan
not smoking or drinking

are all way way way way more important to your health then a vaccine which lasts 12 weeks against a relatively mild respiratory virus

Yeah, lucky it is so relatively mild otherwise we could have had 20,000 Covid deaths so far this year instead of "only" about 5,500.
