The Truth

Let it loose; it will defend itself.”

I did this the other week at work.
It was a big deal, against my boss.
I just stated the facts. I did not add anything.
The facts were supported by someone else.

The truth defended itself.

Truth is manifold; forged for the wise, to be wielded by the wise.

People get to pick and choose what truths they accept these days.

It's not as simple as it used to be.

That said, earlier in the year I was cut off and hit by a young P plater.  He was very apologetic until the police and his dad arrived.  His dad spoke with him and the story he gave the police was just lies.

I told the father what happened and he accused me of lying.

I let them speak to the police first, they took my statement after that then I gave them the dashcam footage.

Now the police have proof the kid was lying thanks to dear old dad.

I deliberately didn't tell them I had footage to see how deep they'd dig the hold.

I had the inconvenience of the repairs etc, but their insurance paid, I refused their cheap as poo panel beater they recommended and went somewhere better.

In cases like this, yes, the Truth will speak for itself.

But online, it just doesn't.

People pick and choose what they believe to be real all too often.  If something they see they don't agree with, keep looking until they find what they do.

Look at all the COVID stuff, even the election stuff.  What they want to believe is their truth...

^^^ That post bled honesty. And truth.

That's what I admire and look for whenever I come online.

Sometimes, I guess, the truth will lose to a good lie.

As much as I dislike saying that.

I don't want to come and poop on the notion of the truth lol, it's very important, in fact, it's the most important thing.

But I keep seeing people get more and more detached from reality, the more and more they let themselves believe in things that simply aren't true because it feels good or validates something in them that's gone either unfulfilled or been the source of ridicule for a long time.

It could be their intelligence or gullibility, but all of a sudden they're the special ones, they're part of a group that gives them validation, even if only in echo chambers.

And more and more it seems there is nothing we can do about it.

That new "truth" they believe not only is much easier to swallow than the actual truth, but it makes them feel special that they now know the "hidden" truth that the mainstream refuses to accept or even allow the light of day.

And anyone who disagrees with them, they're part of the conspiracy, cabal, deep state or posters using multiple accounts etc, anything to avoid dealing with the actual truth.

It's a dangerous combination that leads to radicalisation.  Look at Jan 6th...

And I've not found many examples of successful deprogramming.

At first, it was religion doing this to people, making them feel special because of the hidden truth they know, the more they believe the more they'll be saved, which they called "faith", but now it's something far more insidious enslaving people, turning them deeper into the lies as their only salvation, turning them into sheep and making them think everyone else are the sheep.

At least religion had the courtesy to let their parishioners know they're the sheep by calling them the flock.

I used to have hope, but nobody cares about hypocrisy anymore, especially these people.  They'll accuse those they don't like, those they disagree with, those they consider enemies of terrible things, then excuse those they like, those who push and defend the lies they accept as true from anything and everything, even if it's what they've called evil when accusing other of doing the same thing.

It must be mentally draining being stuck in that sort of loop.

It's much simpler to just accept reality and the truth, rather than the mental gymnastics that must go into believing, justifying and defending the lies.

But what do I know...

Isn't it just?

Every few weeks a post comes up and you find yourself looking at it. Reflecting on it. And thinking to yourself ...finally something worth reading.

I had a similar thing happen to me many years ago. I was stopped and waiting in the queue at the drive through at Maccas when the car with P plates queued in front of me spotted an empty parking spot behind me. He must have decided that he would rather go in than use the drive through. He revved up his v8 kingswood and reversed straight into me (I couldn't move as there were more cars queued behind me). He was very apologetic and admitted that it was his fault.

The next day I went to see him to get some paperwork signed. His dad came to the door instead and told me his son wouldn't sign anything since I 'ran into him'. I suggested he could play it that way if he wished, but since I had a witness in my car at the time plus maccas has surveillance throughout the property that I was sure they would share with me, I didn't think it would end well for him. (This was before dashcams were ever a thing). The dad thought about it for a while but eventually he called his son over to sign the papers.

The dad missed an opportunity to teach the kid a lesson in personal responsibility. Although, to be fair, the kid seemed quite willing to accept responsibility even despite his dad being a dick.

I have dashcams front and rear. In the ’80s some bitch sped through a red light, hit my car going through on green—and I ended up blamed for the accident! I have dashcams front and rear, NOT going to be unjustly blamed again!
