What does Vladimir Putin have to do to convince Washington that the Ukraine crisis is a preliminary skirmish in what might be a nuclear war? On February 23, Putin warned of nuclear war. On February 19, he conducted a full-dress drill of Russian ballistic missile forces. On February 27, he put Russia on a nuclear alert — which remains in effect.
Joe Biden didn’t get the message.
Then on March 29, Moscow sent a red-alarm signal to the West by leaking news that “Putin and his high command have decamped to secret bunkers, following a Kremlin statement that Russia would use nuclear weapons to counter an ‘existential threat,’” the Daily Mail reported, citing investigations by journalist Christo Grozev.

What do you think Donald would have done?
Donald's right, dear. Vlad would not have invaded Ukraine while the Donald was in. Vlad would just have waited until Donald's second term, when Donald told him he planned to pull the US out of NATO.
Unfortunately, Donald was unprepared for the "Deep State", a sinister group of government officials tasked with - ridiculous, I know -
carrying out US policy. They did things like ask nosey questions when congressional aid to Ukraine was stopped by the White House. They reported suspicious phone calls Donald made to the Investigator General, things like asking foreign heads of state to prosecute political opponents' kids. The Deep State went around sticking Donald's memos back together with sticky tape after he'd ripped them up and thrown them out - or reporting blocked toilets where he'd flushed them down the loo. They were constantly making trouble.
Donald was ill-equipped to deal with the Deep State, but he was learning. For example, he found he could fire Investigator Generals just as easily as he could fire Attorney Generals. Problem was, the people got in the way and ultimately said no to a second term. Can you believe it? Voters.
No problem, Donald originally thought, he could just take the election to court, like he often did when things did go his way. The judges in the lower courts got all legal, wanting evidence, and his plan to take it to the Supreme Court didn't work. Donald looked into another plan to convince the generals to impose martial law and run another election, but the generals didn't like it - maybe if it had gone to the Supreme Court, but no luck. The generals turned out to be a bunch of Democrats, what can you do?
Okay, so Donald could tell state governors who to put in their Electoral Colleges and just tell their delegates how to vote - why hadn't anybody tried it before? That one didn't go down too well, with all the governors and electoral officials saying they had to follow "the process." Weak. Donald got into a bunch of arguments with state governors and they all said the same thing, it was getting very frustrating.
Anyway, it all came down to the vote in the Capitol on January 6. Here, Donald would tell his representatives in Congress how to vote, and get his Vice President to stall things while he went to work, mobilising a popular revolt by group of patriotic voters, representing all the people of America. That's democratic, right? It would be like a new American revolution. The people would peacefully take over the House and Senate and convince the "strong" republicans (the Democrats are hopeless, Donald said, they are never voting for anything) to put him back in.
Problem is, the "patriots" looked like a bunch of losers, taking selfies of themselves with their feet on Nancy Pelosi's desk and getting about shirtless, wearing face paint like a crowd of football hooligans. And they started attacking cops. Look, Donald had never had a problem with fighting a cop - if you play fair and don't use mace and tasers and cattle prods. Anyway, five people ended up getting killed and it made Donald look bad. He lost the election - well, he didn't
lose, but you know what he means. The Deep State took him down. The House and Senate voted for Sleepy Joe.
So yeah, Donald didn't get his second term so Vlad decided to invade. Maybe we should have listened to Donald and saved democracy, eh?
